SLACKISH REACTION: Hey the Mets won again! A Sweep of the worst uniformed team in baseball (guys, just go to the brick red jerseys with the snake D and stop all the madness.)
Mets Intern #5 must have been off and Mike From The Mets actually sent me the postgame notes, so let’s share some fun facts!
Sweep Notes: The Mets completed their fourth sweep of the season with their win this afternoon…It’s their first sweep in a series of three games or more at home since they took three from the Twins from September 16-19, 2016…It’s the Mets’ first sweep of Arizona since taking a three-game series here at Citi Field July 10-12, 2015.
Noah Syndergaard: Tossed 7.0 innings and allowed one run, earned, on six hits with seven strikeouts and earned his fourth win of the season…Was the second time this season he’s completed 7.0 innings and the first time since April 26 at St. Louis (7.1 innings)…Has not allowed more than three runs in each of his last nine starts…Has completed 5.0 or more innings and has allowed no more than three runs in eight-straight starts, tied for the longest active streak of that type in the NL with Gio Gonzalez.
Robert Gsellman: Pitched the final 2.0 innings, did not allow a hit and struck out three while earning his first professional save…Gsellman’s only other save in his career (majors or minors) prior to today was in 2011 came in his first professional appearance on July 18, 2011 for the GCL Mets vs. the GCL Marlins.
And my favorite stat of all: Time: 2:41
Thanks Mike! And double thanks because I got to write most of this yesterday!
