SLACKISH REACTION: some folks noticed that Gary and especially Ron seemed like they were getting out of the Mickey Mafia and questioning a bunch of moves. Eye-rolling the managerial moves is something to listen out for as we watch games on SNY. Very interesting. Anyway the Mets lost.
On the telecast the guys were saying Mickey has instructed the guys to throw their best stuff every inning. That rang my ears because when I have heard people like TOM SEAVER and GREG MADDUX talk about it they would talk about how you’d do something in the first inning to set a star hitter up to think you made a mistake third time through the order. Sounds like Mickey is managing one inning at a time. I’ll leave it to smarter pitching minds than I, such as Ron Darling, to comment.
Gotta admire that David Wright is still out there trying to get back into being able to play.
According to a Mets spokesman, there was no damage to any memorabilia in the Mets Hall of Fame and Museum adjacent to the rotunda.
In a comical follow-up that could only happen in Mets Land, during manager Mickey Callaway’s pre-game press conference Thursday, a leak sprung from the ceiling of the conference room during his Q&A with reporters, and water continued to spill onto the floor for a couple minutes. (Via Daily News)
