Mets Police Morning Laziness: Oh, Mickey….

What a week for Shannon to take off. This has got to be one of the most demoralizing set of days in modern Mets history, starting with the news about Alderson, to the lack of depth on the major and minor league roster, and now Mickey Callaway’s ineptitude to lead a big league club.

SLACKISH REACTION: From an objective standpoint, yesterday’s loss was inexcusable. It was poorly executed from the entire coaching staff, and at certain point in the broadcast, Gary and Ron were laughing at Mickey’s lack of in-game planning.

Nelson Figueroa was equally blown away by the lack of accountability on the post game show, which you can see a little bit of above.

It truly looks like the Mets have never heard or seen the importance of a contingency, which can been seen all through the team, from the front office, to the in-game managers and coaches, to the players. Not having someone up for Familia, who looked tired yesterday after throwing 26 pitches, is something you don’t see at any professional level, let alone the Major Leagues.

As if the game wasn’t bad enough for Mickey & co, he dug a bigger hole for himself in the postgame press conference (which the Mets now post on Twitter, thanks Mets) in which he sounded angry and short-tempered (probably at himself), but this kind of tone will only lead to more Mickey Watch Watches, not less.

I recommend watching the first ninety seconds of this, at least.

This post is probably a little to harsh for Morning Laziness, but this is just bad baseball, and we are now 12.5 games out and 14 games below 500.
