A rather embarrassing moment happened for me yesterday, as I was watching the game.
I was watching with little intensity, tuning in and tuning out, and when I finally had time to focus in, I saw this guy on the mound:
Seriously, though, who is this guy?
Narrator: That’s Drew Smith
I consider myself a pretty observant fan, so I was shocked (at myself) when I saw someone in the Mets uniform that I didn’t recognize.
I guess this is just a perfect euphemism for how bad this season has been. I felt like I was watching a John Oliver segment, where John tells me that this guy isn’t actually the guy that got called up, and I just know so little about him that I would automatically believe that he is the real deal after looking at a picture of a young guy in a Mets cap.
SLACKISH REACTION: Not much to react to (I guess that’s why they call it Slackish Reaction?). deGrom got scratched, Oswalt couldn’t get the ball over the plate, and Keith sounded bored out of his mind.
In all seriousness, I hope things are better with the deGrom’s, baseball is always secondary to family, and if he’s ready to go tonight, that should get me to tune in.
