I was in Chicago all day (more on that below) so I wasn’t able to do Harvey Days with my usual live blogging and screen grabs, but let’s see if I can recreate it via Other People’s Tweets!
Not to many people showed up for Harvey Day but Brandon sure was excited..
Matt Harvey perfect game coming at you! #Reds pic.twitter.com/oWEnK4q85B
— Brandon Beam (@BrandonBeam971) July 1, 2018
Would Brandon see a perfect game? Stay tuned to this Batchannel.
Looks like TDK had a 1-2-3 first with a strikeout!
And of course we go down 1-2-3 in the first against Matt fucking Harvey. This dude sucks and he will shut us out
— Fire Stearns and Counsell (@CBCBREWERS) July 1, 2018
Matt Harvey with a nine-pitch first inning.
— Tim Huwe (@tim815) July 1, 2018
The Reds got three in the bottom, and Matt even got to bat in the 1st inning!
Matt Harvey on the other hand is taking advantage of the makeshift Brewers lineup. 17 pitches through 2 innings. 7 pitch inning in the 2nd.
— Danny (@royalty414) July 1, 2018
Someone’s math is off, we’re at 16 or 17 pitches thru 2 and it looks like Matty Baseball is cruising!
Matt Harvey has a 5.30 ERA. He has faced 9 Brewers hitters. He has retired all of them. He has thrown 31 pitches.
— Angry Crew Fan (@TheBrewCrewFeed) July 1, 2018
Hey maybe that Brandon guy was on to something. Perfect thru 3!
Matt Harvey is perfect for the Reds through four innings on 41 pitches.
— Adam McCalvy (@AdamMcCalvy) July 1, 2018
Holy crap, maybe he IS the Next Seaver and is going to throw a no-hitter for the Reds.
41 pitches through 4 innings for Matt Harvey today, who continues to look terrific. #Reds
— RedsFanMan (@CinciRedsFanMan) July 1, 2018
Terrific. I see what you did there.
Matt Harvey allows his first hit in the 5th #Reds
— Joe Danneman (@FOX19Joe) July 1, 2018
Whew. The Mass Suicide of Mets Fans would have been awful. The guys at the CTA (Cincinnati T-Shirt Authority) can put their designs away.
Five innings of one-hit ball for Matt Harvey. Efficient 58 pitches too. #Reds
— Brian Scott Rippee (@bsrippee) July 1, 2018
And he’s through five. He may throw a Maddux. But hey wait, it’s getting cloudy and dark….
@reds Only Mother Nature can put a stop to this remarkable performance by Matt Harvey. #BringontheGroundsCrew
— Snazzyjack (@Snazzyjack) July 1, 2018
Matt Harvey’s start is likely over after the tarp comes on the field. It looked like he was headed for a possible shutout. He was through 5.2 with just 2 hits on 68 pitches, 6k. Wow, absolute gem for Matt
— #JusticeForDeGrom (@maxtoscano1) July 1, 2018
Now I want you to stop and ponder this next tweet. It is very important.
Another ace like performance by Matt Harvey before rain delay vs Brewers after mowing down Cubs and Braves. 5 2/3 2 hits 68 pitches. Are the Yankees watching?https://t.co/m0NGayS1fy
— Ben Green (@bendigreen) July 1, 2018
Holy crap, that’s what is going to happen isn’t it? Matt may not be The Dark Knight but he’s been going 5+ with Good Enough Starts and the Yankees would be thrilled to have a Good Enough starter.
Is our destiny to have Mickey Hodges The Pitching Guru lead us to 115 with the 4 Remaning Aces (plus or minus trades) while Matt Harvey pitches in the 2018 Playoffs? Would the baseball gods really do this to us?
OF COURSE THEY WILL. THIS IS 100% WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN.
The only reason the Reds traded for MH was that they thought they could flip him. They must have some sort of Pitching Guru out there because he’s become serviceable again. He’d be the Mets 2-starter right now, and you may recall….actually you probably don’t….before all you guys started with the Next Seaver Bullshit he was projected as a 3 starter. He’s gonna look great in this…
It is going to happen. Start bracing yourselves.
The Dark Knight did not return after the delay
Following a 54-minute rain delay the game resumes with 2 outs in the top of the sixth inning, Reds leading 3-0. David Hernandez replaces starter Matt Harvey (5.2ip, 2h, 0bb, 6k, 68 pitches).
— Reds Media Relations (@RedsPR) July 1, 2018
In his last 3 starts, Matt Harvey has allowed 3 ER in 18 1/3 IP (1.47 ERA) with 2 BB and 14 K. His trade value is rising #Reds pic.twitter.com/L7JKZc86zZ
— Dan Hoard (@Dan_Hoard) July 1, 2018
Matt Harvey’s last three outings:
– 5.2 IP, 0 ER, 2 hits, 0 BB, 6 K vs Brewers (rain delay bounced him early)
– 6.2 IP, 1 ER, 6 hits, 1 BB, 2 K vs Braves
– 6 IP, 2 ER, 5 hits, 1 BB, 6 K vs CubsImpressive

Darn rain delay. Matt Harvey was happy with his strong performance on the mound, but disappointed he couldn’t go further in the game. pic.twitter.com/GTDWHUNyJu

OK you get the point.
Now my theory, and this isn’t that brilliant – my man is sleeping. He probably has some apartment in Cincy, and all his Bros and (Lady Friends) are back in New York. He probably goes home and watches TV and frankly probably got dropped from a lot of publicist’s mailing lists. And I would imagine Boras said, “Hey dumbass you’re gonna cost yourself millions of dollars, get your shit together” or words to that effect.
It will be interesting to see what happens when TDK joins the gang in the Bronx. Having watched all but the last two MH Reds starts he has been giving up a lot of 380 foot fly balls, and as we both know those are Upper Deckers in FNYS.
…
So I mentioned I was in Chicago. I have spent most of the past three days in airports and airplanes. I DO NOT WANT TO HEAR IT when some baseball player has to fly charter after a night game and then stand in the OF and catch maybe 4 fly balls and bat 4 times over the course of 3.5 hours. I had one flight with a boarding time of 2:10 AM, thats two in the morning in case you think I did a typo, and that was for a connecting scramble flight that added 9 hours to my journey. So waaaaaaahhhh we have to go from one city to another on a charter flight and then only sleep 6.5 hours at a 5 star hotel. Life is so hard. STFU Baseball Players (and TV announcer types.)
