Tebow Time, was Omar a plant, Harvey’s playoff run, Rosario any good…and more Mets thoughts

Hi there.  As I get back into the swing of things I have some topics percolating in my brain so I thought I would share.

TEBOW TIME.    I wrote about this a little yesterday or Saturday, I have been on so many planes I can’t even remember.  Anyway…you’re the Mets.  You’re having the worst season you could have imagined.  Actually couldn’t have imagined.  The Competing Brand is selling home runs and playoffs.  In Queens, you have a GM-less ship, and even the likes of the T-Shirt guy are tweeting that they found that missing Mets games wasn’t so bad.   You haven’t even started rebuilding yet so you can’t even sell that.

That’s all a recipe for a Ghost Town both in terms of fannies and back pages.

There’s one move, and I think the Mets will take it.  Tebow Time.

I don’t understand the attraction, but some segment of the population loves him and they show up.  So screw it, let Tebow come to New York.  What’s one more circus?  Does it even matter?  So the newspaper and fat blogger makes fun of you?  What’s one more rip?

Tebow Time will come sooner than September.

Well discussed on twitter and a few posts, but Matt is pitching OK.  Not Next Seaver but Not Bad.  And the Yankees are looking for a starter.  You have been a Mets fan long enough, do you have any doubt the Reds will flip him to the Yankees and that he will pitch well in the 2018 Playoffs?  Doc Gooden’s Yankees no-hitter and David Cone’s Yankees perfect game say hi.

Wow you blog long enough you acquire random images (see above).

So, not making this up, about two weeks ago there was a press conference for whoever or whatever (maybe it was just the Start Of Hoemstand presser) and I thought to myself Sandy looked older, and then ignored it because I figured I just hadn’t watched a press conference in a while.

But I started thinking.  It sure was odd they brought Omar back in, wasn’t it?  I now wonder if they were just parking him, or parking him Just In Case.  Looks that way now.

Regardless, and I do hope Sandy is OK, this franchise needs someone in charge not three guys sort of in charge.  They should just make a move.  Or maybe they quietly have internally.

I know Dom Smith’s career ended with The Hodges Moment and we’re all waiting for Peter Alonso to be the next Don Mattingly or whoever he will be The Next – but here’s a difficult question as we rebuild….is Rosario that good?

I’m not going to run a 22 year old Hot Prospect out of town, especially as we rebuild toward a Wild Card run in 2023 with Generation K3, but so far he looks kinda Tejada to me.  I don’t see IT.   He’s been around for almost a year now (124 games) but like how come other teams, say the Braves, can bring up their guys, say 2B Ozzie Albies, and everyone else’s 21 year old can hit and maybe start the All Star Game?

As for Dom…they just seemed done with him since he overslept.  I’m sure they will trade him for a middle reliever and he will win the MVP for the Mariners.  You know how this works.

Any my favorite topic.  You know my thoughts.  Today’s statement on the subject is the Reds are 36-48.  The Mets are 33-48.  Maybe the Mets can win three in a row and match the Reds’ record, but the point it that the Reds were smart enough to fire their manager.

I don’t see what anyone sees in Mickey.  I will keep asking you, what does he do well?  I have been asking that specific question since a blog post on May 10 and no-one can answer.
