Stupid cheap Mets being stupid and probably cheap: not gonna activate David Wright

John Ricco is said to have said, “We just haven’t seen that level of being able to play on a quantity or quality basis at this point.” (via SNY) and that they don’t plan to activate David Wright “any time soon.”

Is this about the insurance money?

The Mets sometimes forget that they are in the entertainment business.  This is a dead season with nothing at all interesting about it except hoping JDG can win the Cy Young with like 11 wins.

Let’s assume David Wright is AWFUL.

How awful could he be?  We’ve seen he has been able to stand at 3B for a few innings.

Even if his ABs are horrendous, who cares?

Imagine the reception the guy would get every AB all September long?

Pure mercenary, don’t you think The Return Of Wright, if pre-announced, would draw a big crowd?

You mean to tell me you can’t let him stand at 3B for one of the three games against the Marlins week of 9/10 – and then maybe DH for a game in Boston?

Jose Reyes plays 5 times a week for crying out loud.

Todd Frazier is batting .229.

What’s gonna happen, Wright goes 0 for 2 and makes a throwing error?

Guess what Mets, WE DON’T CARE.

We want to see STARS.   We want to see the Captain.

The guy has busted his ass like you can’t believe.  He’s THE CAPTAIN.  If he tells you he’s ready then you activate him and you write WRIGHT 5 into the lineup.

What’s the point of having him play AAA if there’s no future in 2018?

Is this about the insurance money?  This is about the insurance money, isn’t it?

While we’re here, the Mets have completed a trade with the Phillies for Jose Bautista.  The trade is for, you will think I am kidding, a Player To Be Named Later or Cash.  So basically, “Yeah whatever you can have him just give me whatever” which is what I would say to you if I couldn’t use my Mets tickets and wanted you to have them and you could buy me a beer or not I don’t care.

Bautista batted .204 in 83 games, but now we’re not going to active THE CAPTAIN.
