If David Wright joins the front office he would have to admit that he’s not going to play. If he isn’t going to play then there’s no reason for the Mets or anyone to pay him as an active player. I mean surely the Mets might offer him $15M to be the Assistant GM, but the insurance company ain’t paying for that? Are the Mets going to release DW and pay the contract?
