Hi Gary,
Gary I know you see these and I bet I’m not your favorite person.
Let us all travel back in time to one of the greatest calls in baseball history.
It is a time before trackwalling, which is the act of a baseball announcer unnecessarily mentioning both the track and the wall when a ball is clearly gone. Joe Buck did a lot of this in October, and Gare you did it half the summer.
It is a time before catch-phrases. On this call there is no It’s Outta Here for Outta Here sake.
This, my friend, is a great call.
And what makes it even more great is the silence at the end. Let the pictures and the crowd do the work.
This call here, Gary, is why you will one day make Cooperstown. This call here, Gary, is why I was on you all summer. This call did not need a to the track, to the wall, it’s outta here. No, Gary, this is a much better call. Pure passion. In the moment. Without autopilot nor a catch phrase.
Verdict: As Scully as Scully gets.
