Before we begin, I hope Peter Alonso wins the next 5 MVPs.
Every time I bring up that the Mets need a 1B people tweet me back “Peter Alonso.”
Hold on hoss.
99% of you have never ever seen a Peter Alonso AB. Not in person, not on TV, not on Youtube, not on twitter.
Yet, you just want to write in Peter Alonso. I mean he can’t miss right?
We’ve done this before.
You know who else would be great? That Phenom Dom The Alarm Smith. Remember him?
Or going back a decade now….how about this guy?
Remember him? Big stud 1B. Can’t miss. The beat tried to run Murph out of town for this guy. Should be the Mets 1B for years and years.
You can’t just rip up AA and suddenly be a starter on a pennant winner.
Now you know what might make sense? Bringing in Murph to play 1B and 3B, Then you could ease Alonso in, and you’d have a Plan B if it doesn’t work out.
Again, I hope the guy wins 5 straight MVPs….but if you think the Mets don’t need a 1B you are nuts. And tell Ike and The Alarm I said hi.
