So I am planning to write a piece that will be called something like “Do the Mets realize that Noah Syndergaard is their biggest star?” – and this would have been the sequel post to that, but I guess I am writing this one first.
My question to you: can Robinson Cano ever become a True Met?
My guess is no – that no matter what he does he will always be a Yankee.
Maybe the Mets run off 5 straight championships and he’s at the center of every great moment….but I still think he might still be a Yankee.
Let me go down a road of unpopularity – Gary Carter. Mets Captain. Yet always kinda sorta an Expo. Not that Gary wasn’t a Good Met, a Great Met…I think it’s just the allure of the defunct franchise that ties him forever to the Expos.
If Cano were an ex Red Sox player…yeah I think he could become a True Met. But in this town, with big brother across the river….I think he will forever be a Yankee passing through thanks to his ex-agent.
Feel encouraged to disagree.
