Reports are that MLB may investigate Bryce Harper for his comments about recruiting Mike Trout.
First of all….being real here….that sentence above….it took me 20 seconds after the word recruiting as my brain tried to remember the name of the guy on the Angels.
You’ve heard me say baseball does not have stars. I have modified my position that MLB now has ONE star and he is Bryce Harper, and I am only saying that because he sold more jerseys than LeBron.
I know baseball, especially the national media, wants to pretend Mike Trout is a star but he is not. He’s invisible.
Let’s talk about the NBA. The NBA is red hot, and a big driver is all the conversation about the super-teams, and the recruiting, and the speculation about who is going where. I don’t even know if the NBA has played any games this season but I know LeBron is going to miss the playoffs, and everyone is wondering where KD is going to sign. Dudes, I even know who KD is and I know to call him KD. You think I would recognize Mike Trout on the street?
Baseball should be ENCOURAGING this. Let Harper recruit. Let the Angels be mad about it. Let the Angels’ players be mad about it. Let other players say that they might want to join in to. Why should Andy Martino be the only one making up stuff about where Noah Syndergaard will be traded to…let Noah himself start some rumors. Actually Noah doesn’t seem to like Harper…let Noah openly recruit some anti-Harper guys. Let the Mets and Phillies HATE each other. All that would be great for the sport.
Baseball is boring. You all need to admit this. I am here to help. Commissioner Manfred, don’t investigate…..enocurage. Throw kerosene on this one. Your sport needs some attention. The 24/7/365 NBA says hi.
