This divisions nonsense has ruined baseball. That the Mets have a good record shows how bad baseball has become – and let’s not forget we have two expansion teams in the league. Yes it’s August and yes it’s nice not to be 40 games out for a chance…but they ARE 6.5 games out so you can kid yourself on the Fake Pennant Race all you want, but these Mets aren’t winning anything.
Look what Gil runs out there. Not a single guy hitting in the .300s (except the SP!) Do you really think you are winning a half-pennant with the likes of Ron Swoboda getting ABs?
And man that was one hell of a 2/3 inning appearance by Cardwell. Yet, the Mets get lucky and Phil Niekro let the Mets win. Knuckleballs are gimmicks, and the Braves are kidding themselves with that guy. just like you are kidding yourselves that the Mets can make the “National League Championship Series” nonsense.
