Hi, Matt Harvey reminding you to Tap The LFGMing Brakes!
“He’s the next David Wright in this organization” – Mickey Callaway on Pete Alonso pic.twitter.com/IgQumuB7N5

Look Mick, I know the kid had a great year and put up some unbelievable stats, but take it from me, you don’t want to label anyone with “The Next….” anything.
The kid has been great. I really like the way he took on Torre on the 11th.
But tap the brakes Mick. Don’t start comparing him to one of the top three players in team history just yet.
A lot can happen after an exciting start. Mate the kid will fall in love with burritos and stay out too late. Maybe he’ll have an unexpected injury. Maybe things just don’t work out as tends to happen here in Queens.
Hopefully he has a nice 15-18 year career here in Queens and makes Cooperstown. I sure hope so.
That said, slow down Mickey. Don’t “Next Wright” him just yet. It was just a few years ago when I was posing naked in magazines and people called me The Next Seaver. That one stupid fat blogger that likes to make fun of me tried to warn us all but we ignored him. Turned out he was right, and I am a mop-up pitcher for the Las Vegas Aviators.
Time will tell and we’ll find out if Pete is the Next Wright, the Next Piazza, so far he seems to be The Next Babe Ruth. Or maybe he’s The Next Ike Davis. Mets fans never learn this lesson.
For now, let’s let him be the first Pete Alonso.
And as Jim Breuer says – keep your shirt on hammer. Hey, has anyone seen Jim?
