OK this is weird.
The Mets have announced a media event for Thursday in which “The New York Mets, the City of Port St. Lucie, St. Lucie County and Mets legend Mike Piazza will be on hand for a major announcement regarding an address change and street naming. ”
This comes to Mets Police in a Media Advisory titled
METS TO HONOR MIKE PIAZZA WITH SPRING TRAINING ADDRESS CHANGE
So, one can only assume that Whatever Its Called Thus Year Stadium will have a Street Address of like 31 Mike Piazza Way or something.
That’s nice…bu let me ask a really difficult unpopular question…..
is Mike deserving of such an honor? I know we like to pretend he wasn’t on the Dodgers and all, but is he deserving of a The Franchise like honor? Seems a little soon.

I don’t hate it, but my initial reaction wasn’t Yeah!!! OTOH all of a sudden the Mets are super into their history, so that’s good.
