SLACKISH REACTION: Let’s see, Democracy Died, the UK sealed its own destruction, and this Coronavirus thing is a like a plot you see in a movie where the kids are eating cereal and the mom is trying to get everyone ready and in the background you hear a news story about China closing off its airports……oh and the Mets signed Matt Adams.
I’m not sure WHY the Mets signed Matt Adams, I assume it’s part of some “we should trade Dom Smith” plan, which makes sense – unless you want to argue the Mets should keep Dom and trade high on Vulgar Pete, but I know you won’t argue that yet. You aren’t ready, but in two or three years don’t worry I will remind you I said this.
Anyway, Matt seems like a nice enough organizational depth piece, and I like me some organizational depth.
…..
So far the Mets are having a great decade. I think January 2020 may have been their most successful month since September 1973. Let’s review….
- they were dealt a crisis and quickly dealt with it with no drama
- they honored Mike Piazza
- they put four more guys in the Hall of Fame
- they pulled off a FanFest that everyone liked
- they promoted a well liked guy from within to be the manager
That’s it. No financial scandals. Nobody embarrassed themselves getting burritos. No lawsuits. No fireworks. No clown show.
A really solid month for the Mets. As opposed to say, the Senate. Or Britain.
Nice job Mets. I’d actually rather the Senate have a better February than you, but keep the good things going.
