Believe it or not, it has been worse for Mets – NYPOST.com

I’m still catching up on things.  This is from the other day in the Post, and it mentions Lee Mazzilli who usually gets a mention around these parts on Saturday.

I’m heading out to Queens with The Braves Fan (he’s ok, don’t hassle him, it’s not his fault he grew up in Atlanta in the 1990’s). I have decided to go 1994 Swoosh Jersey today since I haven’t worn that one yet.  Hey we have to celebrate ALL 50 years don’t we?

This was the lineup Joe Torre sent out onto Wrigley Field on April 5, 1979: Lee Mazzilli, CF; Kelvin Chapman, 2B; Richie Hebner, 3B; John Stearns, C; Willie Montanez, 1B; Steve Henderson, LF; Elliott Maddox, RF; Doug Flynn, SS; Craig Swan, P. Yes, that is John “Bad Dude” Stearns — 46 lifetime homers — as your cleanup hitter.

Blue cap tip to The 7 Line (here’s an amazing video)

I want to stand up and cheer for The 7 Line and his work with the Gary Carter shirts.  It was really neat in the spring when the players (led by Justin Turner) took to the shirts, and it was great to see Santana wearing his in the post-game yesterday.

Here’s a great video Darren made that features some swishy bowling by me at the 11 and a half minute mark or so.

I don’t want to make this about me but before long time readers ask “didn’t you used to yell at this guy?” – I have always encouraged Darren to use his amazing talents for positivity. I thought Don’t Trade Reyes captured the zeitgeist. I didn’t dig a sign later in the year. I spent a fair amount of time with Darren this spring (and for the first time) and think he’s a really cool guy and very passionate about the team. It’s not an act. He loves what he does and it’s all from the heart, even the stuff that makes me make my Marge Simpson face.

..

Great great job, great video, and congrats!

Mets offering free tickets for Sunday

Here’s a screngrab. Follow @mets and scroll down their timeline for the offer.

I think this is great. Fill the place. Have people become Mets fans. Empty seats don’t buy hot dogs or blue caps.

It’s Easter Sunday which means lots of people won’t be able to attend so you’re likely looking at a small crowd…so why not.

I’m sure the negative crowd will find something wrong with this. Stupid Wilpons letting people in.

Is the Mets upside down wreath causing the Mets to be unlucky?

I shuddered when I noticed the Mets horseshoe wreath was facing down. I was taught that you always have the horseshoe face up to prevent the luck from running out.

So I started digging. Here’s 2011’s.

Terry Collins receives a floral wreath from the Shea family

Well that’s right side up and that didn’t work…

And as always in Flushing, there is hope!

Maybe the upside down wreath will do the trick!

(I also see an upside down one with Casey. Let’s ignore it. Go with the upside down wreath theory!)
