Photos from Mets Spring Training Opening Day 2012 Part 2

Some more shots from yesterday’s game against the Nationals.  Click on any photo for a much bigger image.

First up, no knucklehead this isn’t some cheap shot at attendance…this was like two seconds after the gates open and I just liked the shot.

And I ran to this nice fan holding a positive sign. Keep up the fine positivity young fellow! We will learn more about this man as we go through the day in upcoming posts.

And then it was time to hit the tiki bar where I cannot say the Mets are cheap with rum.

I took lots of photos yesterday and I must be getting better at it since even Mets Blog linked to one.  I’ll be splitting these up into a few posts that will roll out throughout the morning, and likely will be tweeting all day long @metspolice as I attend today’s day game.

Speaking of twitter, it was great to roll out the #imwith28 callouts again, and Murph responded with an RBI!

It was an absolutely beautiful day.  I went by the stadium in the morning and there was nothing going on…but I did see Colactus running in the parking lot.  That’s not a joke.

I took these next two just to get a rise out of people. This was like 10:30 or 11 or so in the morning.  Click on the photos to see whose parking spaces these are.

Photos from Mets bloggers bowling night

After Mets bowling I spent time with Matt Cerrone and Darren from The 7 Line (who passed me some #imwith28 shirts which are very nice – did you buy yours yet?) and a few non-blogging Mets fans for two games of bowling.  Click on any photo for a larger version.

Here’s Matt looking smooth on the lanes.

I of course used an orange ball.

It was pretty clear after one frame I wasn’t going to win. I figured Darren would be a bowler, but Matt came out of the box with a strike.

In the end I was a total failure, not breaking 100 in either game. You guys can beat me up after school.

Here’s Dan Murphy (and Colactus in the orange shirt. Colactus seemed very relaxed.)

Even I am starting to think I am creepy. Let’s see who else was bowling…here’s bowling champion Tim Byrdak and that’s David Wright (didn’t bowl) taking a photo of his teammates (off-camera to the right).

Here’s the coolest guy in the room R.A. Dickey modeling his bowling shirt. I think that’s the model from last year.

Here’s Tim Byrdak’s perfect game heading into the 9th

and here’s what happened…video.

Mets’ Tim Byrdak almost bowled a 300 (aka The Imperfect Game)

At some point someone mentioned to me Tim Byrdak had a strike in his first 5 frames so I wandered over.

Here’s Tim’s 9th frame with nothing but strikes coming in.

What a great reaction from his teammates. Tim finished strong..here’s the 10th.

Tim finished with a 279. In case you’re wondering David Wright was there and did not bowl. Ike Davis did bowl.

More from Bowling Night coming up…and live from Port St. Lucie all day!
