This was a very cool move by The Candiens, and thanks to the NHL’s magical embedding technology I can easily share it with you.
Who the hell thought skiing was a good idea?
You are five feet and a tree away from reading Media Goon’s Mets Police.
Mrs. Mets Police really wanted to go skiing so I said yes.
Well, the first run down the bunny slope I crashed through not one but two snow fences. I’m amazed I escaped injury (nobody believed me) and I’m not even bruised. Better yet I avoided that tree.
You guys can beat me up in the schoolyard later. (I also ran 6 miles this morning which is probably six more than you so don’t be so quick to make fun of me.)
See the dirt on my Mets stocking cap? At least I would have gone out in blue and orange. Also had on a Mets blue sweatshirt. My obit would have been on-point.
(As I type this there are about 30 posts that haven’t fired off yet. The thought I’d be pointing out from beyond the grave that the site of the 2013 All Star game hasn’t been announced is strangely compelling. I better leave Goon a Banner Day post, he has all the passwords in case of my untimely demise.)
Gary Carter Memory from @jimbojoker38
Gary Carter memory from Vito
I went to his book signing a few years ago. I brought with me some old pictures I had from 1986 from a road trip I took to Philly to see the Mets play the Phillies. I showed them to him and he even commented “wow I was in great shape then.” I asked him if he could sign the picture as well as the book. Immediately a Barnes and noble employee said no. He’s only signing books. In typical carter fashion, he says “oh, I’ll sign this”. It is my favorite picture from 1986 and I have plenty. Just a super person. It’s so sad that he’s gone.

Mets’ Terry Collins insists there are surprises in store for 2012 | NJ.com
So can the Mets compete?
“You’re damn right,” Collins said.
His belief is based in his faith that David Wright and Jason Bay will bounce back, that Lucas Duda and Jon Niese will step up, that Johan Santana can survive the rigors of the season. Collins indicated a season of 85-90 wins was possible, even in this loaded division.
