Link: goodbye and a heartfelt thank u from josh lewin – Lone Star Ball

I made a friend today in Lone Star Ball, and they were kind enough to alert me to this post in which Josh Lewin said goodbye to Rangers fans.  If you read the full article it seems Josh is/was on twitter which is good…

Sometimes relationships just run their course, and it really is as simple as that in this situation.  I still love the Rangers organization, and hope they still like me as well… but with different visions of what the broadcast landscape should look like, this really is the best for all concerned.

And this other article suggests that Howie and Josh might make quite an entertaining pair.  I’m ok with distractions during blowouts.

As the Rangers’ TV voice Lewin was always prepared and consistently a fun listen. He rubbed some of the old-school seamheads – like, ahem, team president Nolan Ryan – the wrong way because he too often filled 10-1 blowouts with Seinfeld over the staid intricacies of baseball nostalgia. Horn: Announcement timing strange in Rangers’ decision to cut ties with Josh Lewin | Texas Rangers News – Sports News for Dallas, Texas – SportsDayDFW

Adam Rubin linked to this article this morning in his twitter feed, and it’s an interesting read including the below…words are from Dallasnews.com news not Rubin.

I used the phrase “canceling Lewin” for a reason: Because Lewin sometimes seemed more like a TV variety show host than a play-by-play voice. Sometimes it seemed as if he were spending as much time surfing the Internet for material as he spent watching the game in front of him. Some viewers loved him for that, especially in the dog days of most Rangers summers. Others could never get used to the shtick. He was a lightning rod.

Would David Wright provide Tribe some much-needed righty punch? Hey, Hoynsie! | cleveland.com

What do the boys in Ohio think about David Wright?

Hey, Hoynsie: Just was watching the MLB Network and they suggested the Tribe make a run at David Wright. Matching Lonnie Chisenhall and a couple young pitchers such as David Huff and Corey Kluber could match up well. — Chris Zanon, Canton

Hey, Chris: Like David Wright, don’t like his contract. He’ll make $15 million in 2012 and is eligible for free agency in 2013. Hate to lose Chisenhall for a one-year rental. One more thing, Wright played only 102 games last year because of a stress fracture in his back. Back injuries and the hot corner don’t co-exist. Just ask Joe Crede.
