The Knuckleballs of Kilimanjaro: R.A. Dickey Plots His Ascent – WSJ.com
There’s a fun read about R.A. Dickey’s training and plan to climb Kilimanjaro in the WSJ…but I thought I’d pull out this quote.
“If we thought it was a good idea, we wouldnt have sent the letter,” Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said. “Beyond that, have we tried to dissuade him from going? It seems to me that the letter is enough of an effort to dissuade him, and he intends to go on nonetheless.”

Seems the Mets warned him that if he gets injured that it could void hos contract.
R.A. is awesome in person, I wish him the best of luck with his climb.
For the Mets at Spring Training, Reminders of Seasons Past – NYTimes.com
As the only team that trains in Port St. Lucie, Florida, the Mets have become somewhat limited in their options for springtime opponents. The nearest town with baseball is Jupiter, where, as it happens, the St. Louis Cardinals and the Miami Marlins share a facility.
…
(Beltran and Reyes) will be fixtures on the other side of the diamond.
The Mets play 31 spring training games next year, including two on a split-squad day March 6, and roughly a third of them will come against those two teams. They will play the Marlins five times and they meet the Cardinals for six games.

Mets Fans Won’t Enjoy Benefits Of Baseball’s Surging TV Money – Forbes
Supporters of the New York Mets should be jumping for joy at the recent surge in television rights values.
…
But Mets fans will not get the halo effect of surging tv fees because team owners Fred Wilpon and Saul Katz also own 65% of SportsNet New York (Time Warner and Comcast own the remainder), the RSN that televises Mets games. As a result of the deal that was put in place at the inception of SNY, the revenue stream from SNY to the Mets is set for at least the next 20 years, according to someone who has seen the contract, regardless of the appreciation in the value of those rights. No opt out for the baseball team here.

Here’s pictures of what Mets fans got for Christmas
Nope, this isn’t some jerky post about financials.
Shannon,
Here’s the Mets gear I received for Christmas. The winter hat is the classic Mets blue with the NY logo with a white and orange stripe that goes all the way around and I love my authentic BP jersey. Hopefully they were under a lot of trees this morning. Keep up the great blog. Let’s Go Mets!
Matt
And let’s see what Florida Met Fan Rich got..

Thanks to everyone who sent stuff in and I bet some more will roll in as the day progresses. You can send your stuff to [email protected] or just tweet me @metspolice
We had pretty decent traffic yesterday on the site! It always pays to put up fresh stuff. I have a few “real” items and links scheduled for the day. I’m going to go spend time with the family and then I have a date with NBA2K12 (wow great game) but I will posting all day at the normal patterns.
