Arguing With A Yankee Fan About Schedule

Just got into it with a Yankee fan who is still upset that the Pirates didn’t switch to a day game last Thursday.

Please.

Again with the travel whining.  Pittsburgh to NYC is not a big deal.

Then he mentioned having to go from the Bronx to Flushing.   10 minutes on a bus is a big deal?

Why should the Pirates help the Yankees?

Why should the Pirates give up their big gate?

Why did the Yankees have to play Friday afternoon?  Play Sunday morning at 8am if you don’t want to be hassled on Friday.

Poor poor Yankees having to play a doubleheader after a night game.  Waaaaah.

Hoo-Rays!

The Rays got it done!

I took the dog for a long walk and checked out this game on the radio.  Was neat to hear the announcers jazzed, and they said there was a big crowd (I’m sleepy and don’t feel like waiting for a boxscore).

They expect good crowds the next two nights – even talked “near sellout” so good job outta Rays fans.

They are even getting feisty down there – look what tampabay.com just posted – 10 reasons to hate the Red Sox!

Maine spit the bit, Yankees lost – it’s all Rays.   Best record in baseball!

Moose Stuck On 10

Mike Mussina pitched great again.   Poor guy is stuck on 10 wins.  Cliff Lee has 11.

Let Moose start the All Star Game at home!

Brooklyn Psyche-Loans Owe City Money?

From the Post:

The Brooklyn Cyclones’ owner owes the city nearly $130,000 for underreported attendance and special-event income, city Comptroller William Thompson charged in an audit to be released today.

It’s alleged they under-reported by 28,000+ fans.   The team says that the city knows bleachers aren’t part of the count.    I wonder why that is?

The Mets Police suggest the city hire Howie Rose, who can continually claim there are “about 40,000” in the stands – that way the city can make money off the Wilpon Juniors.

No truth to the rumor that the Mets will move the New Orleans team to upper Manhattan where there supposedly was once a National League team with a familiar looking NY logo.

Might As Well Go For It

Spent a lot of time talking Mets with the fellas today and…

The Mets should just go for it

There’s nothing to trade.

You shouldn’t move OverReyes because he’s inexpensive, you shouldn’t move Maine, and if you move Wright you might as well move the team so the Marlins can move to Citi Field.

Beltran is probably the only piece you could get something for – but it’s hard enough to find three bodies to stand out there every night as it is – and ‘Coco Crisp and prospects’ doesn’t sound exciting.

There’s next to nothing to rebuild with. Next year some dead weight like Four Inning Pedro comes off the payroll so you’re looking at a free agent rebuild, which never works in Flushing.

Might as well go for it with Santana and Maine, pray for rain and hope the Phillies pull a Willie in September.
