Coronavirus Filler: The 1981 Mets Yearbook

Can I ask a difficult question?  Did anyone actually like Basement Bertha?  Yes Bill Gallo was great….but I never cared about that character AT ALL.  You can send nasty letters to customer service @mediagoon on twitter lol.

I did like the Mets Magic campaign and want them to bring that back.

This guy Joe Torre seems like he’s really into the Mets.  I bet if we ever want to honor fallen heroes he would be on board.

Baseball Hall of Immortals – Inductee #28: Mike Schmidt

The greatest third-baseman of all-time, there is no doubt of Michael Jack Schmidt’s place in the Hall of Immortals.

For 18 years Schmidt was perhaps the most feared slugger in the National League.  In 13 of his 15 full season he hit more than 30 homeruns. This may not sound like a lot today but back in the 70s and 80s, hitting 30 HRs actually meant something.

Schmidt wasn’t just a slugger though, but also one of the best defensive players of the time, earning 10 Gold Gloves.

Oh and did I mention 3 MVPs?

Without a doubt, Mike Schmidt is an Immortal.

Tales of the Duck Knight: Tom Seaver named MVP and wins Cy Young Award

The regular season is over, and there is a lot to be happy about!

Tom Seaver, the virtual Franchise, wins the Cy Young with 19 wins.  Even in a video game nobody might ever win 20 again.

Tom also took home the MVP!!!!   You’d think websites would talk more about Seaver and less about Matt Harvey.

The next time I head to the basement it will be the playoffs and the Ducks will play the winner of Red Sox-Rays in an old fashioned 10 game playoff bracket.

Tomorrow, we will see how the 2020 Mets did.  They did not do well.
