In case you missed it this weekend –

1. I declared James Loney as my favorite Mets player. I didn’t really have one so I figured I’d back the new guy.

2. AFTER I declared, the Mets assigned him number 28. Funny how the universe did that

3. And this is important. The #imwith28 hashtag was specifically about how the media and the front office never respected the guy hitting .395 at the end of May for a division rival.

Any Loney usage, or tagging a Walker 20 or a Dilson 2 or whatever is just unoriginal and uninspired. You’re better than that. Try harder.
