Here’s what was on Mets Facebook yesterday

The Mets, along with most if not all MLB teams, posted about yesterday’s Spirit Day, which as I understand it was to discourage bullying LGBT youth..

A few comments:

– since my comments about the Washington NFL team got some people’s blood boiling I can’t imagine what this post will do.

– regardless of how you feel about the Mets Facebook post you should know that some posts on Mets social media come from the MLB Central office. So whether you are proud or angry about this one, it probably came from MLBAM.

– the comments below are just some of the comments, and this type of comment appeared on at least several team’s boards. Deadspin highlighted the Braves page.

– I am not sharing this to spread hate speech. Quite the opposite. I hope that Mets fans can encourage other Mets fans to be better people. Whatever your belief, we should respect each other.

“Sometimes you think living in a smaller town in New Jersey that maybe the world is out of reach, but I came here to show them you can make it from here in Piscataway,” Young, 28, said. “Just work hard and follow your dreams. I also wanted to come back and speak to the kids and get them excited about continuing their school work and trying different things and staying active. It’s my first time being back in a long time. It’s bringing back old memories. It’s also great to see my old band teacher.”

The WPU website has not had any posts since the vote was taken even though the group shared its thoughts openly and willingly throughout the process. The group has not addressed why members remain silent but ended the email with a sentence that left more questions than answers.“Among the community’s many resources are the new mayor and the courts,” it read. “Stay tuned.”
