A company I will not promote has a new slogan which is “Why Leave a city that has six professional sports teams, and also the Mets?”
If you would like to know which company you should find the story on the website of a local newspaper not named News, Post, Journal, Ledger, Record or Newsday.
I will have no part of these shenanigans, but I will tell you one thing about that company: they would never even consider insulting Mets fans by charging them to print out tickets at home.
My afternoon news sweep noticed a story in Business Insider. I thought there was nothing new, but then the following perked my eyes.
One source is telling Business Insider that the Mets will have to sell more than just a portion of the team, noting that the Wilpons “need to sell a stake in it TV network SNY if any kind of deal is going to get done.” The source also feels that Jeff Wilpon (Fred’s son) “is not grasping the reality of the familys circumstances” and that the Mets may be operating with a $80 million operating deficit this year.
