Phillies Postpone Jason Werth Blanket Day

I found this amusing….and picture myself killing the Mets about messing up “Ryan Church blanket day.”

Due to a manufacturer’s production error, the Motrin IB Jayson Werth Fleece Blanket
unfortunately will not be given out on Sunday, May 10..

The Phillies apologize for any inconvenience.

Women 15 & Over in attendance on Sunday will receive a coupon good for one Jayson
Werth
Blanket when they become available later this season.

Again, we apologize for the inconvenience.

Revisiting Mets Citi Field Section 105: Yep It’s Obstructed View

I kept looking at the Obstructed Views In Section 105 and while I had no reason to doubt the folks that sent me the pics (send yours to [email protected]) I kept wondering if it was the camera angle or something.

It just didn’t make sense to me that the Mets would place seats with iron between the seat holder and home plate.

While these pics look similar to the previous post, they are new, and were taken by me on Thursday night.   This isn’t plexiglass or complaining about not seeing the corner.   I understand that the people in the way will move (not my seat, I had to take pics quickly) but the iron isn’t going anywhere.

These views are from the last row in that section.   Yikes.

Mail: Name The Mets Citi Field Bridge After Bill Shea?

it doesnt matter just stop complaining like u always do and just be thankful we have a new stadium.
and the mets r gonna win with black uniforms its 6-1

Complaining about the black uniforms is one of the main reasons this blog exists, so I can’t help you there.   I’m not complaining about the Phillies game attendance, I just find it remarkable that there’s a new stadium and  a “heated rivalry” and nobody goes.

A decent amount of the fanbase agrees about the black.  Way back I asked “Why Are Mets Uniforms A State Secret?“:

I agree and have thought this way for some time. The uniforms up to 1978 were classy, please go back to them.

The sentiment below I just don’t understand:  Re:  Worst Mets Citi Field Obstructed View Ever (Video!…“:

Oh boo hoo. Grow 3 inches so you can see over the railing. Or better yet, go hang out at any of the hundreds of standing room tables and get a great view without being constricted to a seat.

I guess that was to get me riled up?   The solution is to not use your seat and go stand?  Why not just have a seatless stadium and back in 115,000 standees?

While I don’t normally support the Yankees and what they do, I saw from the start that they got this part right. I’ve posted several times on my Mets-focused blog about what Citi Field is lacking. The other day, I put up some suggestions for the Mets, somewhat along these lines, although without the baseball cards or holograms (Tom Seaver morphing into Sandy Koufax?).

I’m noticing on Twitter (@metspolice) a lot of people don’t care for the black outfield fence.   A comment on Solutions For Citi Field’s Obstructed View Problem…“:

They should paint that bridge (behind center field) orange and blue & call it the Shea Bridge….bridging the past….bridging Shea to Citi….and it would add some much needed color.

I really like the idea of the Bill Shea Bridge.

You’re terrific. They all got up at the same time to grab some chicken fingers! Right!

Please keep this up. I hope your sarcasm and lots more will reach that greedy Yankee management. Imagine deserting a perfectly good stadium, that could have been renovated and updated, to create this palace of gluttony.

And one a nice note. a birthday wish for John Maine.

Happy B/day John (Maine) from 22401! I moved down to Fredericksburg three years ago and miss the Mets so much! Everytime John pitches the Free Lance Star (very local paper) writes something about the Mets,a nice change from the woeful Nationals and the O’s and the full coverage of the fishing reports – gosh I miss the big apple and real sports!

Citi Field: I’m Digging The Tacos (New York Mets)

When you head out to Citi Field I highly recommend you head to center field.   Odds are that the line at the Shake Shack will be insane, but I think I have a new favorite.

I was digging the Shake Shack ($17 for burger, fries and shake) but then I discovered the much bigger and much tastier and much bigger Johnny Rockets Shake at New Yankee.

So now I’m disappointed in the tiny Shake Shack Shake.  It’s not that it’s bad…but after a half an hour I need something to fill me.   I’ll save my shakes for the Bronx.

My advice?  Stop being trendy and stop standing on line for half an hour, and look toward the field where you will find the Taqueria.

My buddy and I both had the Combo Taco Platter.   Three tacos and some other thing (I don’t even understand the phrasing on the menu, but who cares, it was good).  The salsas are yummy but make sure you grab a thousand napkins or you will wind up with Salsa Pants like I did.

Tack on a large soda and you’re looking at $14…which sounds like a lot until you realize you are actually full!  You’d spend like $10 on a half cooked hot dog and a soda anyway, and still be hungry.

I’m not dissing the Shack, but when you add it all up – Tacos is a better call.

Next visit – Pizza run.
