Most Popular Mets Police Articles (week of June 14)

As usual a recap of the most popular Mets Police articles from the week (with a few of my favorite under-read articles mixed in).   From the week the wheels fell off…

Far and away the most popular discussion was started by Vegas Rich who contends that Jerry Manuel is eliminating the Mets from contention.   He may be right if I’m right about why Santana hasn’t been good.

What a horrible weekend it was.  Who knows what Buckner, Castillo, Pratt, Pendleton and Scoscia have in common?  I will tell you here.

No link but isn’t New Yankee Stadium a joke?  And that one guy with the big neck who used to play for the Rangers…no not A-Rod….well….his neck is pretty big is all I’m saying.   I don’t want to go all Ibanez on the guy.

Because of you and Charlie Samuels, the Mets are still wearing black.  Click the link to donate money to cancer research every time the Mets don’t dress in black uniforms.  At least Howie Rose is still ripping Charlie Samuels and the unis.

Instead of black, maybe the Mets should go with these New York Giants inspired uniform designs.

I thought Keith Hernandez saying the “core Latin players” didn’t like Willie Randolph was interesting.

New Stadium Insider has fan video from inside Yankee Stadium during “Castillo.”  Watch the video before MLB takes it down (I’m sure they planned on selling a DVD from this vantage and the NSI video will hurt sales).

Speaking of New Yankee Stadium:  Here’s my guide to the place.

Always popular:  Inside the Acela ClubInside the Caesar’s Club and the overall collection of Citi Field pics including obstructed views.

How come nobody told me Mr. Met got married?

Vegas Rich walks you newbies through the history of the Mets.  Part 1 and Part 2.

Upcoming this week:  Seaver stuff. more obstructed views and more.

Shoutout to the fireman.  Love ya.

New York Yankees Game Rained Out

Tonight’s Yankee game has been rained out.

I mention this for two reasons:

1.  I like when teams are fan friendly.  If you have Yankees tickets for tonight you can just go home after work.  You don’t have to go to the Bronx, pay $19 (or whatever) to park, sit in the rain, buy two beers, kill your Friday night – and then get told there’s no game, or a 10:35 first pitch.  I wish teams would do this more often.

2.  This tweet is hilarious:

nyp_joelshermanGame at Yankee Stadium rained out tonight, yet the under-over for HRs nevertheless remains 2.

New York Yankees Derek Jeter Doesn’t Get It

Here is the quote of the weekend.   The Captain talking about Homer Stadium.

“Why does everyone want to compare this ballpark with the old ballpark?” Jeter asked a writer before the game. “When you buy a new car, you don’t worry about the old one. This is a good hitters’ park, but so was the old Stadium. I loved hitting in the old one. Just because you hit a lot of homers doesn’t necessarily make it a good hitters’ park.”

I don’t know, maybe it was the way everyone liked it, or that you could afford it, or that home runs didn’t fly out and absurd rates.  Maybe the memories.  Maybe the way you could pretend Yankee Stadium II was the same place Ruth and DiMaggio played, which you can’t do across the street.   Maybe it’s the way the new place is called “Yankee Stadium.”

Come on Derek, you know damn well why we do it – because the new place is a lemon.

A New York Yankees Bomber Bucks Rant

Seems like Bomber Bucks are making people sad.  I never cared for “Mets Money” either.  I stumbled across this…

Bomber Bucks can only be redeemed at the Yankees ticket window in the Bronx, and tickets for regular folk are hard to come by, at least in person. While you can hunt for tickets as often as you want online, and sometimes get lucky, forget paying for them with Bomber Bucks because you can’t use them online. Tell the ticket window about the tickets you found online on theYankees official site and somehow they become invisible.

The Yankees, who have been taking a beating of late on New York talk radio over how their fans have been treated since moving to their new stadium, have chosen to remain silent on the matter.

“We do not have an official comment for you,” spokesman Michael Margolis wrote in an email.
