Tonight’s Game At The AppleDome

I’m thrilled that while building – what is it – $1.6 billion in stadiums that the Yankees, Mets (not to mention the football teams) had the foresight to build a retractable dome.

It’s so nice not to have to worry about rain.

It’s great to know that I’ll be nice and dry, and nice and warm.

It’s awesome to know that there is zero chance of the game being postponed, or paying $18-$25 to park and then sitting in the rain for three hours.

What’s great too is that since the dome retracts, once it gets warm and sunny we’ll be able to enjoy the Mets (Yankees) on their beautiful natural grass field bathed in beautiful sunlight.

I can’t imagine any city building a stadium (or three) without a retractable dome in the 21st Century.  You’d have to be an idiot.

$2625 per Yankees ticket – and they want you to pay $2.50 to print them!

This was interesting….a guy in ChicagoBusiness.com writing about sticker shock buying Yankee tickets.

No new ground, just fun.

After waiting 15 minutes, I was informed that there were four front-row seats available in section 21. So I continued to play the game and said I wanted them.

Finally, I got the bill. It turns out each ticket had a $59.70 Ticketmaster surcharge and it would cost me an additional $2.50 to print the tickets. You mean, $2,625 per seat didn’t cover that?

The grand total for the four seats was $10,744.55. Five figures to take the family to a Wednesday afternoon game against Oakland. Think about that.

Yankees Ticket Giveway

From Yankees.com

Pepsi will blitz the market in an unmistakable van that visits high-traffic locations within the tri-state area March 25-April 8, leading up to Major League Baseball’s Opening Day and the Yankees’ home opener on April 16 against Cleveland. The van’s occupants will be rewarding fans with exhibition-game tickets, regular-season tickets and team-branded prizes to fans wearing Yankees gear and consuming Pepsi products.

Stops will be made on the street, at retail locations (Yankees Team Store, Wal-Mart, Target, Modell’s, Stop & Shop, ShopRite), sports venues (Madison Square Garden, Prudential Center, Yankee Stadium), transit stations (Hoboken ferry and bus terminals, subways and train stations), college campuses, corporate campuses, theaters and public venues such as Central Park, Greenwich Village, Financial District, Seaport, Times Square and other public parks.

Noticeably more fans are wearing their Yankee gear these days and Pepsi is providing yet another reason to show your team colors. Someone could spot your new CC Sabathia customized jersey and send you to a home game to watch him pitch. Just think, that jersey might pay itself off.

Prizes will include tickets to the April 4 exhibition game between the Cubs and Yankees as well as regular-season tickets for to-be-announced games. Other Yankees premium items such as bobbleheads, wristbands, pins and pennants will be handed out.
