Topps X Bryce Harper “220” is a first-of-its-kind set where Harper hand-picked the design, chose the players, theme, and added his own words to it. His meticulous approach resulted in a set fans are sure to love.

“I have never done anything like this to really design a product, put something forward like this,” said Harper, whose father collected baseball cards. “I’ve done cleats and bats, but to be able to do a baseball card is special.”

“220” is a title picked by Harper to signify his personal mantra of “Second to None.” Every detail of the set was picked by Harper to reflect who he is and his love for the game.

Topps X Bryce Harper “220” features the following components:

    • Fourteen of MLB’s top players that would encompass his own team
    • Best Hair: Harper’s top five MLB players with great hair
    • Harper’s Heroes: highlights his all-time favorite moments in MLB history
    • Look Good, Feel Good: Showcases the essence of Harper on and off the field.

Harper is the first person to be featured for the personalized sets from Topps. Look for more sets in the future from top athletes, celebrities and notable figures. For more details, go to Topps.com.

Queens Tribune Poll on who Mets blame (and other stuff)

The New York Mets have been having a difficult season, and Queens residents are blaming everyone in the organization. Respondents placed 25 percent of the blame on the owners, 8.5 percent on the manager and front office and only 5.8 percent on the players, but overwhelmingly the top response was all of the above with 51 percent.

Good stuff from Craig, who takes a higher road that I ever will on this one.  I think it will destroy the game.  It will chase us old guys that kind still like the game, and the youth is already checked out.

I doubt I’ll ever love it or enjoy it on the level I enjoy a starting pitcher who guts out seven or eight innings, allowing two or three runs and stands in line for the win. If you like it, that’s wonderful. You should like what you like. But it’s just not for me.

My proposed solution is this:  a rule that states that whoever starts the game is ineligible to pitch in the team’s next three games.  The starter may play a position (other than P),  pinch hit, pinch run etc – but if you start the game you become a dead roster spot for the next three games.

In the real world, that would mean Wheeler can’t pitch in the next three games.  He isn’t going to anyway, so I haven’t broken anything, but I have solved for this bullpenning nonsense that will destroy the business.

Lyin’ Todd Frazier admits to deliberately tricking umpire. Sad! Hashtag Mets Culture Hashtag Soft

Is this true?

“It was one of those things where I think any third baseman or any player trying to win would do it,” said Frazier. (via CBS Sports)

Is this what we want to teach Little Leaguers?  Not to win the game on skill but by tricking umpires?  Not to win honorably but to win at any cost.

I say no, and I would like to see David Wright play third base honorable.

Soft Todd Frazier has already blocked me for not liking his t-shirts, now I give you real reason Todd – this is dishonorable behavior and I am calling you on it.

Is this what we want Mr. Wilpon, an organization that is based upon cheating the system?
