Mets Police Morning Laziness: cheap Mets (Wright), not so cheap Mets (Alonso), and a suspended game!

SLACKISH REACTION: Wait, what happened? A suspended game in the 10th? That’s fun! I didn’t see it as I went to bed at 10pm. I thought last night was a good example of baseball being boring. That one inning where the Mets scored took forever and was totally not exciting. Jake isn’t winning the Cy, you can let that dream go.

Meanwhile, David Wright played 3B for Las Vegas.  Here he is in a Reyes de Plata uniform…surely to be a UNIcorn.

David was one for four, which you can read about here.  What is infuriating is the the stupid cheap Mets are bing stupid and mostly cheap and aren’t going to bring him up.

The cheapness isn’t so much about this year, but it’s about how if he plays it will be harder to get a new insurance policy for 2019 and 2020.  Poor David, he has done all this work and they won’t play him.  Prediction: this gets VERY ugly.

Also getting ugly, Peter Alonso’s agents are upset that the Mets won’t give Peter a look in September.  I get all sides.  Seems the Mets are acting like they want to see Dom Smith play as if they aren’t totally done with Dom.  The conspiracy says stupid cheap Mets.  The anti-conspiracy is that the Mets are afraid Peter won’t do well in the majors yet – I know #TheNarrative is that he is Babe Ruth, but take a closer look at the AAA numbers – and if you are looking at Jay Bruce as first baseman, maybe it would be stupid to lower Peter’s trade value.   I get it.  Agents like to make money, that’s their job.  I might be with the Mets on this one.

Oh yeah, totally forgot – Joey Bats was traded to the Phillies for basically “I dunno, give us something when you get a chance.”   Whatever.

Vargy pitches today!  We hope….we’ll probably get Vargas.

And you know who else pitches today bitches?

Not sure how much TDK recapping I can do tonight.   Can the Reds puts him tom tomorrow?

David Wright played for the 51s on Tuesday. How did he do?

David went 1 for 4. It is WAY easier to get content from Vegas than it was from PSL. Also of note, likely the only time you will ever see Wright in a Reyes de Plata jersey.

Stupid cheap Mets being stupid and probably cheap: not gonna activate David Wright

John Ricco is said to have said, “We just haven’t seen that level of being able to play on a quantity or quality basis at this point.” (via SNY) and that they don’t plan to activate David Wright “any time soon.”

Is this about the insurance money?

The Mets sometimes forget that they are in the entertainment business.  This is a dead season with nothing at all interesting about it except hoping JDG can win the Cy Young with like 11 wins.

Let’s assume David Wright is AWFUL.

How awful could he be?  We’ve seen he has been able to stand at 3B for a few innings.

Even if his ABs are horrendous, who cares?

Imagine the reception the guy would get every AB all September long?

Pure mercenary, don’t you think The Return Of Wright, if pre-announced, would draw a big crowd?

You mean to tell me you can’t let him stand at 3B for one of the three games against the Marlins week of 9/10 – and then maybe DH for a game in Boston?

Jose Reyes plays 5 times a week for crying out loud.

Todd Frazier is batting .229.

What’s gonna happen, Wright goes 0 for 2 and makes a throwing error?

Guess what Mets, WE DON’T CARE.

We want to see STARS.   We want to see the Captain.

The guy has busted his ass like you can’t believe.  He’s THE CAPTAIN.  If he tells you he’s ready then you activate him and you write WRIGHT 5 into the lineup.

What’s the point of having him play AAA if there’s no future in 2018?

Is this about the insurance money?  This is about the insurance money, isn’t it?

While we’re here, the Mets have completed a trade with the Phillies for Jose Bautista.  The trade is for, you will think I am kidding, a Player To Be Named Later or Cash.  So basically, “Yeah whatever you can have him just give me whatever” which is what I would say to you if I couldn’t use my Mets tickets and wanted you to have them and you could buy me a beer or not I don’t care.

Bautista batted .204 in 83 games, but now we’re not going to active THE CAPTAIN.
