Earth Day Mets Cap blows opportunity to look good

Wow New Era blew it on this one.

METS looks terrible on caps.

The Earth Day Caps are all this cool orange.  Let’s see…what sort of color would pair nicely with this orange….I dunno?  BLUE????

Some thought starters for what they could have done…

Before you point out that these two caps exist already – I still think the Earth Day orange, which is different, would go nice with the blue.

Also, the below is a fashion jersey design from like a decade ago.  I own one of these in Actual Jersey.  One of my faves….

A’s plan to move to Las Vegas before the Climate Emergency forces them to move again in 2040s

Hey you know what’s a bad idea – moving to a city in the desert that’s going to have water problems in the 2030s!  But it’s not like the A’s haven’t moved before and it’s not like they won’t move again!

Las Vegas is the fastest-warming city in the United States, its temperatures having risen 5.76F since 1970. A June study of coroner data by the Las Vegas-based Desert Research Institute found a correlation between heatwaves and heat-related deaths in southern Nevada, both of which, they say, are on the rise. And a recent Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) report warns that without global action to reduce carbon emissions, the city will probably experience 96 days of heat above 100F by the end of the century, including 60 days over 105F, and seven “off the chart” days that would break the current heat index. Anyway, the Times has the story of the A’s planned move.  The 2024, 2025 and 2026 seasons in Oakland should be fun!

Jacob deGrom pitched against the Royals and LEFT THE GAME EARLY – you’ll look

Jacob deGrom was living his best life in Texas where he had no-hit stuff

Here he is throwing 100mph….hmmmm…..

And then…

DeGrom said he felt something minor on the side of his wrist as he warmed up but figured it would subside as he got loose…..

As the game progressed, though, he said he felt a slight increase in soreness and grew more concerned about the possibility of adjusting his mechanics to account for the soreness. …..

….As he walked off the mound (after the 4th), he told catcher Jonah Heim he might not go back out for the fifth, then discussed the issue with Mike Maddux between innings.

“I’m honestly not too concerned,” deGrom said. “I’d like to think I could make my next start. But we’ll see how it is tomorrow when I come in. That spot doesn’t seem too concerning.

“Could I have kept going? Probably. But it was lingering, and it got a little bit worse as the game was going on. And I was like: ‘Hey, I just want to play this safe’.” (via Dallas News)
