2006 Shea Stadium Pictures – Mike V’s Countdown To Mets Opening Day

Mike V’s Countdown To Opening Day:

Here are a couple pictures I took from my seats at Shea Stadium on Opening Day 2006.  On April 3, 2006, the Mets took on the “NATS,” with Tom Glavine on the mound.  The Mets won the game.

Check out the ads on the outfield wall. I am pretty sure I didn’t think anything of the AIG sign at the time.

I was living in North Carolina in 2006, but was so committed to making it to Opening Day, I was willing to buy a “six pack” to make sure I would get in.  It wasn’t too bad when you consider the face value of these incredible seats was $18 — less than a third of today’s $63 face value.

To get fans pumped up in the winter of 2005/2006, the Mets had picked up Carlos Delgado and Billy Wagner (as well as Paul LoDuca to replace borderline-Hall-of-Fame candidate Mike Piazza).

Good source: this is the Mets “interview cap”

Remember we heard there was going to be an “interview cap” (aka post game cap, it’s unclear to me the proper term or usage).

Well, Mazzy Award winning Blog of The Year MetsBro has posted this monstrosity.

Yuck yuck yuck yuck yuckity yuck yuck yuck yuck. I demand they bring back the hybrid caps immediately to replace these!

Yuck.

Anyway MetsBro has yet to miss on a uniform story so while its possible this is wrong I wouldn’t bet against him.

Yuck. MetsBro, I hope you finally got a scoop wrong.

UPDATE: “sources” say this will be an optional cap.  Someone could choose to wear it, but they won’t be forced to.  So it’s somehow even more stupid that it exists.  Try and imagine this on Terry Collins after a bad loss without laughing.

Mets: Season Ticket Holder All Star Game Invoices Are Out

2013_All-Star_Game_Logo

The season ticket holder sent this to me said that their price for their seat is $723.00 a piece in Sect 514. Now that is a lot more then I figured for seats up there. I had figured that there would be about $500-600 cap on each ticket in the promenade sections.Guess I was off be a hundred or two or three. Now I don’t know what the other prices are yet throughout the stadium yet, but if any of our readers know feel free to put them in the comment section. Underneath is the email sent out to the season ticket holders.
