Guest post: summary of the Mets ticket changes

Here’s a guest post from @CoreyNYC.  I asked Corey if he wouldn’t mind writing something up since I was overloaded last night and he had some good points.  I haven’t confirmed his section information although it looks accurate based upon quick glances.  As always I remind you Mets Police is a fat guy in his basement, his cousin and a couple of other slackers who occasionally post something.  I leave it to you to decide if you find the site accurate or worthwhile. Nothing here should be taken as gospel.  I have made some comments along the way during Corey’s post.

Generally speaking, Marquee game prices went up while everything else went down.

Major changes seem to be:

PROMENADE

A shrinking of the former Prom Club (now Prom Gold) & Prom Infield Reserved (Now Prom Infield)–Prom Club used to be 406-423, now its 411-418. Prom Infield used to be 508-523, now its 510-518. For the last 2 seasons, the Prom Club Sections towards 1B & 3B were empty most games, so this makes perfect sense. It makes less sense for outer sections of Prom Infield, which were usually somewhat filled.

Combined with this is a significant price drop of Prom Box to match Prom Infield. My current seats are Prom Infield in 512, Row 4. If I can move to one of the former Prom Club Sections between Home & 1B/3B that is now Prom Box, I will move in a second. (Prom Infield had a slight price drop while Prom Box had a fairly big one)

My assumption is that the super cheap season tickets they are talking about in the press release are in LF Prom, past the foul pole.  (Shannon here – this was confirmed by David Howard on the call)

EXCELSIOR

Caesars Silver is now part of Caesars Box (Formerly Caesars Club) pricing and is lower than last year while the Caesars Gold Sections remain the same but at a lower price point.

HUGE increase in Pepsi Porch Marquee pricing while most everything else seems slightly cheaper except big drop in value games to balance it off.

(Shannon here: I haven’t looked into prices, but Corey’s use of the word huge has my curious.)

FIELD

I don’t see major changes other than disappearance of Field Box Bronze (now Field Box) and fringes of Baseline Box went from Silver to just plain Baseline Box. Lesser price drops throughout level though Champions Club stays almost the same due addition of all you can eat food.

I’m loving the 6 month payment plan, not sure why anyone would choose to give them 1 lump sum or even the 3 month payment plan even if you are flush with cash. The only perk to paying in full by Nov 7 is you get invited to some special events. I’ll pass.

Also love that I now have club access, like everyone else in the stadium.

In a general sense, ticket prices are still a bit high but I think they are approaching the place where they should be.

Shannon here again.  Man there really is a lot to this.  I’m doing all this blogging last night…and it’s 10:23pm as I am writing this one and I still have at least two more to go….and I have had a post every half hour or so all day.

Next up – some of the benefits Corey mentioned, and later my thoughts on the Mets blogosphere.

A look ahead to what the Mets weekend ticket plans may look like

On last night’s bloggers’ call with Dave Howard I went last.

I asked if there was anything he could share about the partial plans.  My unspoken question was, “Hey are you going to stick us with crappy games we don’t want” but since as part of the answer to the question before mine Dave mentioned those announcements were to come I decided to ask a more general level question.

I don’t want to put words in Dave’s mouth but the general tone of his answer was that they are paying attention to the fans, including some of the complaints.  He also used the word flexibilty.

I wish I had a transcript of the answer but based upon what my registered in my brain and what a ticket rep told me I expect we’ll see something like a Saturday plan being similar to what we’ve had in the past…but rather than the extra games being dogmeat we might get to choose from a menu of games.  So at least it’s choose your own poison.  I might like the Padres, whereas Goon might like the Reds.  At least we’d have some sort of choice as opposed to “here’s September 22nd against the Nationals.”

I’ll let you know as I hear more…but sounds like 10 of the 13 Saturdays and pick 5 others from a menu. All a guess, but that’s my guess.

Where the $12 per seat Mets season tickets will be

The Mets press release stated:

The Mets will introduce a limited number of Full-Season Tickets for only $12 per seat, per game, or $972 for the entire season.  The limit is six seats per account.

On last night’s call Dave Howard mentioned these seats will be in Promenade Left.

I strongly applaud this move as Prom Left is often empty.

Were I younger and still lived off Roosevelt Avenue I would get myself a ticket.  I hope they sell a bunch.

Next….what did we learn about the weekend plans.  Keep coming back for more.
