In defense of the Sandy and Colactus video

The Mets are getting killed on the intertubes over this video. The video title was not chosen by me.

I come not to bury the Mets but to praise them.

This is harmless fun.   I doubt the Mets missed out on any free agent signings because Sandy and Terry spent some time making this.  Are they world class actors?  No.  Can Patrick Stewart and Andre Braugher put together a winning ballclub?

The Mets have made great progress this off-season, and if they want to send out some fun videos from time to time.

Everyone needs to lighten up.

Here are some other videos which may amuse you. This first one has aged really well.

2010 Alternate Mets caps #25

Once again I will bust out the “at least it’s blue” backhanded compliment. The only reason to ever use NYM is if you are a lazy blogger who can’t be bothered to reach all the way to type 4 letters or if you are operating the out of town scoreboard. I do concede that I like saying “the NYY’s” but see how I save two characters doing that? That’s twice the savings that typing NYM instead of Mets gets me.

So I was listening to Paul McCartney’s Silly Love Songs (those of you under 35 can leave now) and it got me thinking….some bloggers just want to fill their blog with alternative caps, and what’s wrong with that?   Not everything needs to be so serious.

Mets Christmas shopping for myself

Two developments yesterday, all behind Mrs. Mets Police’s back.

Media Goon, um, gave me the awesome road jersey (sans black) for Christmas.  The kindness of his gift reminded me to give him my extra stack of 20 dollar bills.  Thanks, Media Goon.   FYI, MG points out that these run small – this 2XL is snug on me and I haven’t been hitting Unnamed Donuts Chain that much.  Many of my jerseys are L’s (when I’m feeling cocky I shop smaller.)

In other Santa news…my, um, mom bought me a present for Christmas.  It says To Shannon Love Mom and everything on the box.  Here’s what the box looked like when it arrived on Saturday.   What do you think it is?  I will open it next week and be very surprised!

People are being so kind this year and it’s a good thing.  If I bought myself $200 in presents that would just be wrong.  It’s not like I don’t already have 7 Mets jerseys.

Faith and Fear’s Mets party story

Man I wish I didn’t have that whole Day Job thing I do to fund my life.  I would have had a good time at the holiday party.

Faith & Fear did a solid recap including this funny:

Steve Keane asked about media and pressure and listed all the potential noisemakers in a player’s life — TV, print, blogs…at which point Jason (Bay) interrupted him.

“You guys consider yourselves media?”

Jason Bay made me laugh.

Check out the article – it’s Greg”s usual well written lengthy type post…and when you’re in the mood for poorly written choppy sentences come back here.  Greg rarely posts alternate caps.  There’s blog room for all kinds.

Speaking of parties, I’m off to the Media Goon’s Holiday Spectacular.   If all goes to form I will crush him at Madden and he will crack me at NHL.  Maybe we’ll take some photos.  I’m trying to ask Mrs. Mets Police if I can wear a Mets jersey today.
