What happens if Ollie shouldn’t be on the DL?

The Daily News says that MLB will “independently review” Ollie’s optimally timed knee injury.

What happens if he shouldn’t have been placed on the DL?

Perhaps Bud Selig should use his new magic Perfect Game Re-do Powers to wipe out Niese’s start.

Do the Mets get a big fine?   Does Ollie get un-DL’d?

I hope Ollie’s knee gets better.  Nobody should be in pain.

Ollie will go 17-9 for the 2011 Dodgers.  Jose Reyes will be the 2012 AL MVP leading Boston to the division title.  I don’t root for these things, I just know what happens.  Kids, let me tell you about two players name Mike Scott and Kevin Mitchell….

Citi Field crowd sets record…for crochet

Things seem quiet in Flushing….Mrs. Mets Police is doing one hell of a job gumming up my computer (windows did not shut down correctly…again!) which is out in the open as we continue to renovate Mets Police HQ.  I need my space back…..and I need to mow the lawn before it rains…so I leave you with this…

The Citi Field crowd set the Guiness world record for crocheting. I was not one of the 400 people.

MetsBlog has a picture of someone named Carlos Beltran. He seems like a good player.

Great day at Citi Field

I had a great time at Citi today.  Nice crowd (surprised that it was reported as only 37, 165 since it looked pretty full).

It was an odd day for me since I got their late (real life prevented me from getting there early and snapping 200 pictures of caps) – when you miss the first inning and the time of game is 2:15 the day zips by.

It was nice to see unior wear his custom jersey for the first time (pinless).

Went to the Promenade version of Big Apple Brews for my traditional one beer (you only need one beer at a game, use your disposable income on other items).   This is a nice addition to the upstairs…even if the lady working wasn’t in the best mood.

Hey Mr. Met – do you ever make it upstairs?  Come hang out.

Superthanks to @mrjmf for hooking me up with a bag!   He was following along all afternoon as I whined on twitter that I didn’t get a bag….they were nice, and the bag was a key reason I didn’t stubhub my tickets on a sunny and busy day….so thank you very much sir.

Here’s some interesting numbers from  the official postgame notes:

METS STARTING PITCHERS: Mets starters improved to 10-2 with a 2.33 ERA (28 earned runs/108.2 innings) overtheir last 18 games…The 2.33 ERA is the lowest in the major leagues over this span…In 15 games from May 1st-16th,Mets starting pitchers were 0-6 with a 6.98 ERA (60 earned runs/77.1 innings).

GET AHEAD: After scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the second inning the Mets improved to 24-10 when they score the first run of the game.

DAVID WRIGHT: Hit his 10th home run of the season, and his second at Citi Field, in the bottom of the third inning…Last year, David hit his ninth and tenth home runs on September 12th in Philadelphia…His 10th home run camein his 466th at-bat last season, this year it came in at-bat number 194.

WRIGHT MILESTONES: His home run in the third inning was the 150th home run of his career…His RBI single inthe fifth inning gave him three for the day and 600 for his career.

I am swearing off jersey buying.  I went in the Mets store and made a large purchase…not a jersey…will share later in the week.  Time for TV watching.

New Alternate Mets Caps for 2010 #5

Tonight’s cap has the edge over last night’s for one reason….it’s not black.  Blue and Orange makes it slightly more defendable…sort of like if Colonel Green were wearing it next to Khan in a black one.   (You’re either laughing or will never get the reference, move on.)

Ollie to DL

What an amazin’ turn of events. Just when the Mets want to activate Niese, wouldn’t ya know it Ollie’s knee hurts. Now he will rehab in Florida. Remarkable.

FLUSHING, N.Y., June 5, 2010 – The New York Mets today announced that the team has placed lefthanded pitcher Oliver Perez on the 15-Day Disabled List (retroactive to June 1) with patella tendinitis of his right knee. Perez came to Citi Field yesterday and complained of discomfort in his right knee, the same knee that underwent surgery September 1, 2009. He underwent an MRI last night at The Hospital for Special Surgery, and was diagnosed with patella tendinitis. Perez is expected to leave for Florida today to begin his rehabilitation and will return to a throwing program as tolerated. He last pitched on Tuesday, May 31 at San Diego.
