Sale on ‘Shea’s final season’ Mets jerseys

This came in on Friday so hopefully the sale is still valid (I’m still asleep. Â I love pre-posts! Â I had the weirdest dram, I was in Atlanta and fireworks went off at 4 in the morning….)

In light of the recent jersey customization done by Terrence, I thought I’d pass along a link for anyone else who might be interested.

These jerseys have the final Shea season patch on them with NNOB.Â Theyre on sale for about 122.Â The site also has regular authentics sans the Shea patch for about 109. Unfortunately the Shea versions are only available for the larger fellas.

Hmmm. Â A non-cream pinnie is intriguing. Â And I do look at the Shea patches and wish I had one. Â I do have my MP #86 jersey which is non0cream. Â (MP is Mets Police not Mike Piazza or Pelfrey or anything. Â See who can come up with the best random Mets MP. Go.)

I still haven’t worn my orange Osh41 annoyer or my Ironic Murphy green jersey yet, it was a Stars and Stripes weekend after all….I think I’ll resist, but that doesn’t mean you should.

I think I will save my money on my hypothetical no dropshadow 50th anniversary true-retro jerseys that I’m hoping Dave Howard is about to announce. Â Please Dave?

Pride, tradition, pinstripes, Dandy. Happy 4th Yankees fans

While you celebrate George Steinbrenner’s 80th birthday, think back about Lou Gehrig and Dave Righetti’s no-hitter, let’s also take time to make fun of this. Â From the WSJ a few weeks back:

From 1979 to 1981, the Yankees employed a mascot named Dandy. He was big and blue and a spectacular failureâ€”a historical oddity for a proud franchise that has collected 27 world championships but would just as soon forget he even existed. Which, to be fair, isn’t terribly difficult to do.

Wright and Reyes are All Stars

Seriously it’s 4th of July and nice out. Get off the computer. At least I’m typing from the beach.

Congrats to David Wright and Jose Reyes who are on the All Star team.

Initial reports are that Pelfrey isn’t on.

Tom Gorman on Fireworks Game (link)

ESPN New York had a nice piece on Friday about the Fireworks Game.

Gorman, now 53, was the winning pitcher on Opening Day in 1985 whenÂ Gary Carter hit a walk-off home run in his first Mets game.

He was the winning pitcher in an 18-inning game against the Pirates a couple of weeks later.

He was the losing pitcher in a 26-7, loss to the Phillies on June 11.

And he was the winning pitcher, essentially by default, in that marathon game against the Braves.

A very enjoyable piece about one of the most memorable games in Mets history.

Which Mets player has not appeared on a Topps card since 2008?

Paul’s Random Stuff is one of those neato blogs I dig because he does his own thing. He writes a lot about the Newark Bears (go Ducks!) and baseball cards.
