Beaded Mr. Met and more opening day pictures

Ceetar who has his own site Optimistic Mets Fan, and who was part of the small but enthusiastic Blue Cap Army (years from now the originals will hold a reunion steak dinner) sent this one over, and last night’s dead cap photo, and has shared his photos from opening day.

And for more pictures, Peter who often hooks me up with items sent his opening day photos too.

Bold prediction and speculation: the black uniforms will go after 2010

One thing that is catching my eye at Citi Field in 2010 is how blue and orange everything is.   They are using the phrasing in marketing and it is used in the museum.

The throwback uniforms looked fantastic on Monday (much less yellow than they look at Modell’s).

Next year will be the 50th season of the franchise.

All that seems to me to think the prevailing wind is heading toward tradition, and traditional colors.

Take a look at this picture Metsblog posted.

It would not surprise me to see the color black dropped – no dropshadow, no hybrids.  This is pure conjecture on my part, but this blog is about putting ideas out there.  What say ye?

UPDATE: I can always tell when Metsblog links (thanks Matt) because traffic goes way up.  If you are new, welcome…poke around we have plenty of pics of the museum, I hope you come back, and I am encouraging everyone to subscribe via free daily email or google reader.

Quick self-promotion

A quick note to ask for folks to sign up to get Mets Police via a free daily email.

Why?  So you never miss an article.

Why?  I spend a lot of time on this and I like to have as many readers as possible.  It makes it seem less crazy to spend two hours doing this every night when I see the readership growing.  A “bottom line” of subscribers helps me have a guaranteed readership.

I do not spam you.  The only communication you’ll get is the daily email with the articles, around lunchtime.

We now resume making fun of bad Mets caps and jerseys.  Look at the nice man behind the vendor…a Swoosh Jersey!

While I’m begging – why not tell some friends about the site.  Maybe email them a post.  I don’t know if this is the post to choose, but something must be entertaining on here this week.

Self-plugging over.  I appreciate everyone who reads, comments, sends something in, or silently lurks.  If I met you on Opening Day I really enjoyed it.
