You Can Take The Bags Off Your Heads Now

Ed from the Real Dirty Mets Blog sent this over.   The sign says “spend in 2010.”  I bet Dave Howard and the gang loved seeing Mets fans walking around with that.  Note the blue “I’m calling It Shea” shirt too.

I have to wear my jersey out.  I wore a Mets jersey to Giants Stadium figuring I’d run into at least in person in 50,000 that was a Mets fan.  I did.  One.   What happened to everyone?

Ed says they wouldn’t let people move down even though there were like 12,000 people in the building on Saturday according to his count.

Time for Mets fans to be proud.  We have hope again.  We’re 0-0 in 2010 and I’m told Jose Reyes will be ready for opening day.  Let’s Go Mets!

Curse Of Coogan’s Bluff On The New York Mets? (Times)

II’ve only been complaining about the Mets ignoring the Giants for two years.  Now that the Times has. maybe they can recognize the old New York Giants, winners of 10 pennants.

A Curse of Coogan’s Bluff?  I almost hope it’s true and lasts until I move the team to New Shea in 2060 with the money I make from inventing the holodeck.  New Shea will look exactly like Old Shea on the outside, squares and all, and fans will enter through the Lee Mazzilli rotunda.

In the meantime, read the Times article where finally someone listens to me.

Published: October 4, 2009
Citi Field, the Mets’ new stadium, has many reminders of the Brooklyn Dodgers but few that celebrate the New York Giants.

“We’re the ghosts of the Polo Grounds,” the first voice said. “Remember the Curse of the Bambino on the Red Sox after they dealt Babe Ruth to the Yankees. Well, when the Mets opened Citi Field last April with hardly any mention of the Polo Grounds or the New York Giants, we put the Curse of Coogan’s Bluff on the Mets.”

Twins Much Better Than Mets At Closing Stadiums

Today would have been the last game at the Metrodome.  The Twins needed the game to stay alive.

They won.

Now the sellout crowd gets to stay for a stadium closing ceremony.  Everyone is happy and in a good mood.

Remind you of anything?

Quick questions:  how come none of us, me included, ever suggest former Met Ron Gardenhire as someone who should manage the Mets.  For a team they wanted to contract, he’s finished third three times plus whatever happens this season.

Hoe come the play-in game can start at 5pm?  I though all major sporting events needed to start at 8:30 or later so I can fall asleep on the couch while Los Angelinos enjoy.

Does Valentine To Marlins Scare You? It Scares Me

The Mets have won.  As fas as I know, Jerry Manuel is still the manager for 2010.

Guys, please at least interview V.

ESPN.com reports the former Rangers and Mets manager — who recently signed to work as a studio analyst for the network — is talking to the Florida Marlins about a position in their organization.

You may have heard of the Marlins.  They are that joke of a team that has won two World Series since 1987 and finished ahead of the Mets this season with their low payroll and inability to compete.

I don’t know about you but I’d rather Valentine be on TV than in the division.
