As I said on Sunday, I’m not going to ignore the Yankees and write generic columns about Joel Youngblood. (That’s what December is for). We have our Yankee friend “Mr. Sunshine” (the Yankees can never do wrong) on assignment tonight and here’s what he has sent back.

This is the “Cafe Seating” the NYY’s added….”Cafe” is Latin for stick a plank where the standing room was.

That being said, it’s not awful. There doesn’t seem to be any plexiglass and you can see the left fielder.

These are the flags blowing out to right. He also tells me he is cold. And Mrs. Sunshine’s hat blew away. I’m on a leather couch drinking a beer, snuggling with a blanket and popped a Sam Adams. Who’s laughing now? Oh and the game is in HD.

Sports Schedule For November 4, 2009

On November 4th, Citi Field will host the UFL Sentinels against the Las Vegas Locos.

Also on that night, Game 6 of the World Series will be held at the home park of the American League team.

It’s Sentinels Season At Citi Field

The UFL will be here soon to little acclaim but since they will play (one game) at Citi we should at least pay a little attention, right?

A Sentinel is defined as “one who stands guard”, and the logo for the New York franchise is inspired by the presence of the mythical and real heroes which stand guard to protect the City of New York. The shield represents strength and stability, and the heroic angels reference the imposing scale of its landscape, aspiring upward as a tribute to the overall spirit of New Yorkers.

The UFL’s first game on October 8th will be broadcast on VERSUS at 9:00 pm ET. On Saturday, October 10th, the Florida Tuskers will host the New York Sentinels at the Citrus Bowl. Penguins Radio..How About New York Mets Radio?

Over on Metsblog Matt had danced around this idea a few times..I wonder if it would work. I bet it would…my reservation was “what would you walk about all day” but I thought the same thing in 1987 about sports-talk. During the season it would be easy…this week it’s easy….December might be hard. Maybe the Mets could overpay some former bloggers.

The HD channel features Pittsburgh area native Steve Mears as host of a daily show, â€œPenguins Live,â€ from 9:30 a.m.- 12 noon each weekday during the season. Mears, 29, spent the last three seasons as the radio play-by-play voice for the New York Islanders. A native of Murrysville and a graduate of Franklin Regional High School, Mears grew up as a Penguins fan, idolizing Mario Lemieux and Mike Lange.

Some quickies from watching last night with the kids…I had explained it was Twins-Tigers and possibly the last game at the Metrodome.

“Wait..so if you lose in the playoffs you have to get rid of your stadium?” Took 5 minutes but I cleared that one up.

“That guy is old!!” That was Jim Leyland.

“Is that where the 9/11 thing happened?” Ah innocence…seems that it would make sense to have Twin Towers in the city of the Twins. Cleared that up too.

“Why aren’t the Mets ever in the playoffs?” Like Jeff and Omar, I had no answer.

Looking forward to 17 home runs at Yankee Stadium tonight with a 40mph hour wind to right field.

Former Met Ron Gardenhire does a good job. Somehow the Twins have won 5 of 8 divisions on his watch. Not bad for a team they tried to contract.
