Tip Of The Cap To Jim McKay

Sorry to hear that Jim McKay passed away. If there’s any silver lining that can come from that it’s that it comes on a day where all eyes will be on ABC Sports for the Belmont, so hopefully they will work in an all-star tribute.

It’s 96 degrees in the shade at Mets Police HQ so a tip of the hat to Jim, go Big Brown, go Spain (adopted team for Euro 2008) and of course Lets Go Mets (except Willie.)

>R.I.P. Jim McKay (1921 – 2008)

>Sad news this morning as longtime ABC announcer Jim McKay passed away at age 86.

Growing up McKay’s voice meant 2 things to me – Wide World of Sports (who will ever forget “The thrill of victory, and the agony of defeat”), and the Olympics. McKay covered a dozen Olympic games, including the winter games of 2002 when ABC “leant” him to NBC for their coverage (one of the cooler things done on TV in the last decade).

>Big Brown To Have Better Career Than You

>Starting to get really psyched for the Triple Crown.

Win or lose, looks like Big Brown will have a great job!

The winner of the Kentucky Derby and Preakness already has a syndication deal reportedly worth more than $50 million. Once he is retired from the track, he likely will command a stud fee of $100,000 for at least two years.
