Mets Baseball Operations Expert Jessica Mendoza no longer with Mets

We here at the Mets Police would like to thank Baseball Operations Expert Jessica Mendoza for her massive contributions to the franchise.

As Wags tells us, she has a lot of responsibilities with ESPN and this totally has nothing to do with what she said during Cheatgate and you shouldn’t’ assume that at all, this is totally about ESPN.

Also she’s no longer on Sunday Night Baseball.

Mets Police Morning Laziness: You aren’t boycotting anything and you never do

SLACKISH REACTION:  Here we go with the boycotts again.  The yahoos are upset that the Ponzi billionaires aren’t selling to the other billionaires who voluntarily do $1.8 BILLION settlements with the SEC.

I have written this boycott thing so many times over the last 12 years that I can do it from memory.

The most notable boycott was the one in 2015.  We had BILLBOARDS getting press.  And what happened?  The Mets won 11 in a row and then suddenly the Mets were drawing 40,000.

There were the “Mets Fans United” clowns, some sort of non-organization that went through like 12 “leaders.”  They would have some sort of circle-group “secret” conference calls, and then they had the big event where two guys walked around with paper bags – INSIDE the stadium.

Just stop.

You all sound like crazy people.

Here’s how this goes…it goes like this every summer.  I will get told today that I am old, stupid, a sellout whatever.  Happens every year.

Then the Mets will eventually win 5 of 7 or J.D. Davis will homer in 6 straight games and you guys will put him in the Hall of Fame, and I will say “tap the brakes” and remind you to calm down.  Then you will say I am “too negative.”

All of this has happened before, and will happen again, but I know one thing – you aren’t boycotting anything.  So stop whining over nothing.  It doesn’t matter which billionaire owns the team.

Personally, I hope this drags out forever, as this is a nice version of Succession for me to follow.  I like this quote from the Post, It is Jeff Wilpon being described here.

“This guy has never done anything in his life other than play a week of minor league baseball and work for his dad,” said the former Mets staffer. “The Mets are his life. He can’t do anything else.”

But hey, he’s neither the first nor last guy to get hooked up by his dad.  You act like everyone from Joe Buck to Kenny Albert to Donald Trump to Alyssa Rose to Andrew Cuomo to Luis Rojas didn’t get some shortcuts because of their famous fathers.   That’s how it works guys.  It’s a who you know world, and Jeff knows Fred.

So calm down, put on your Mets cap and enjoy baseball.  The real reason not to attend games has nothing to do with Jeff, it’s that the games are boring.  Jeff didn’t turn it into Home Runs, Pitching Changes and Strikeouts.

Mets Police Morning Laziness: Wags learned a lot in his year as an inexperienced GM

SLACKISH REACTION:  The Post has some words from Wags…and what I am getting here is that IT WAS STUPID TO HAND THE TEAM TO SOMEONE WITH NO EXPERIENCE AS A GENERAL MANAGER

“No question I learned a lot,’’ Van Wagenen said. “There was so much new. I’m a believer we all have to grow every day and recognizing each day offers something new.

“We have high expectations. We have to continue to raise the expectations for ourselves and that includes the general manager, the player development guys, the health and performance department. We have to continue to set high expectations and be willing to do the work it takes to achieve them.’’ (via NY Post)

That’s nice.  I’m sure everything is fine now.

The rest of the Mets news is Why Steve Cohen Isn’t Buying and basically it seems like the Wilpons tried to add some things to the deal last minute….which is what Einhorn said way back….and the NY Times says is a common real estate developer move.

The same people that “boycott” and are never attending games until the Wilpons sell are “boycotting” again, and of course will be at 5 games in April when the team starts 9 and 3.   People are really out of their minds.  As I said, google “Steve Cohen Feds” and just ponder things fellas.

Mr. Met just kinda gonna casually drop in on Bloomberg Campaign field office tomorrow

This is interesting.

Now you may recall that Mr. Bloomberg was once the mayor of NYC during the time when the Wilpons were doing things like building a new stadium or looking to develop what was then called 126th Street.

Bloomberg told the CBS in 2012 that the Wilpons are nice people.  I do not know Mr. Bloomberg’s present opinion.

The mayor was asked by a reporter on Wednesday if he’d be interested in buying the team.

“Look the Mets are fun and I like going, I think Citi Field turned out fine,” he replied, according to the New York Observer. “Why anybody wants to own a sports team, I can’t figure out.”

Bloomberg said he already faces tough scrutiny from the press without owning a team.

“I like the Wilpons. They are nice people,” he added. “I’ve known the family for a while. I wish them — hopefully they work themselves out of their fiscal problems. I like to go and I like to have a beer, and some popcorn and enjoy.” (via a 2012 report from CBS Local)

Anyway sure is cool of Mr. Met to swing on by and presumably support the campaign.

Low crown blue cap-tip to Paul Lukas for putting this one on my radar via twitter.

People are upset the Mets are renting out the batting cages

Everyone is in a kerfuffle about this email that went out.

Look, maybe this would be an awesome time for your 10 year old and his or her friends (not that kids like baseball, but if they did maybe this would be cool).

I assume this is for parties and not for one fat guy to take two hours worth of swings.

Look, the cage is sitting there unused.  Why should it just sit there?  If I were a kid I’d think this was kinda fun.   Plus “free” Wifi!

Relax everyone and google Steve Cohen Feds and stop being so mad about this non-sale.
