Luis Rojas to be next Mets manager

Mets Police sources are telling us that the Mets are in the final stages of negotiating contract details with Luis Rojas.

I have ZERO opinion on Luis Rojas, other than the Mets are handing the team to an inexperienced manager, which is of course stupid given the circumstance.

Plus the media had deemed Luis to be the choice and that is who runs things now.

I do wish Mr. Rojas tremendous success.

I told you this morning there would be all sorts of METS NEWS today because I am busy.

I don’t have an image of Luis Rojas

Mets Police Morning Laziness: Predictions for today

Today I am super-busy.  Historically, on my busiest days the Mets (who probably have my ical bugged) announce all sorts of things.  Here’s what I see happening today.

  1.  Actual Fan Fest details come out.  We now know deGrom, Alonso, Rosario and Matz will be around, but they will probably put out a big press release right as I walk into a meeting.
  2. MLB will release the Spring Training caps and jerseys, right before I walk into a meeting.
  3. Two seconds after I hop on the subway to come home, the Mets will announce Luis Rojas as manager.    As for Rojas, that’s the path of least resistance so that’s what they will do.  At this point I don’t care who manages.

An interesting twist in all this is the Red Sox being interested in Bam Bam Muelens to manage in Boston.  Wouldn’t it be awesome if the Mets also lose their bench coach?  Yes.  Yes it would be awesome.

SLACKISH REACTION:  Not much going on.  Looks like Sugar Diaz did some good things…the other sites are all regurgitating that so I’ll let you read that there as I have to shower and shave.

Barry Bonds did not make the Museum In The Middle of Nowhere.    Derek Jeter and Larry Walker did.  Whatever.

Here’s some of the players expected at Mets Fan Fest

As predicted by the very wise prophet Mets Police…

…Jacob deGrom, Pete Alonso, Amed Rosario and Steven Matz will all be hanging around on Saturday.

I don’t know how this all works and if they are all there for all three sessions or what but I am confident my friends the Mets will eventually let everyone know.

And I did predict this this morning they’d do it under cover of Jeterpalooza.  The Mets shared this info at 4:34pm (I was out).

Mets Police Morning Laziness: Mets prospect Tim Tebow got married!

That’s how I imagine today going.  There are four days until the Fan Fest and NO DETAILS yet.

Mets Prospect Tim Tebow (#15) got married!

People magazine reports Tebow married former Miss Universe winner Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters in “an intimate sunset ceremony” Monday at La Paris Estate in Cape Town, South Africa. The couple exchanged vows they wrote themselves in the wedding, which mixed both American and South African cultures and food. (via Syracuse.com)

The Post reports that the Mets Front Office is scared that Steve Cohen is going to realize they aren’t good at what they do.  Look – he already has the evidence, don’t overthink this one, it’s already clear you aren’t good at this.

According to the person, there is concern that if the Mets hire somebody who wasn’t originally considered for the job, it will look bad to Cohen, reflecting poorly on a front office that will be in limbo once the ownership transfer is complete. (via NY Post)

Just hire someone, hook up some CAA cronies while you still can and just know Cohen is already on to you.

Meanwhile, The Big Zero had this to say about Astrosgate.

Fortunately there is no more cheating in baseball and we can expect a 20-5 season out of TBZ.

Oh and there’s a video of Cespedes running.  You can watch that on the 10,000 other sites.  They have it welllllllll covered.

Fun morning in Queens for January!
