Mets Spring Training home knows to ignore 2016 Wild Card appearance

We’re not some expansion team that needs to hang its hat on every little bitty thing…so it’s nice to see that whatever Tradition Thomas J White Corporate Sponsor Field is called these days is ignoring the one and done play-in game from 2016.

Also if you bought a 2016 Postseason cap how did that work out for you?

Cool.

Mets Police Morning Laziness: Gary in good form, The Virus sings, Alonso makes HOF

SLACKISH REACTION:  My favorite part of watching the game on tape was seeing that they said Gelbs was coming on to do an interview and just skipping the entire half inning.  GKR were in good form and we even got an episode of Sterling or Scully out of it.  Good start by Gare.

I was one batter in before I was bored by baseball.  I was blogging while watching and it was the bottom of the 1st when I really was like This Is Awful.  I made it through four before bailing and watching Will Smith teach me about Science on Netflix.

Sunday vs Astros:  1:10pm: WPIX and radio WCBS 880.  For cord-cutters like me that means I will watch the WPIX feed on an OTT App called Locast,  There is no DVR function on Locast, and I am not wasting a Sunday watching practice baseball but it’s still nice to know.

Monday at Astros: 1:05pm  MLBN.  This is part of YoutubeTV and my DVR picked it up on its own.   Cut the cord peeps!

Looks like The Virus has a new music video!

It’s also possible he’s practicing the Dark Arts to convince Wags to sign him.  Wags, he is old and plays second base, we need more of those guys.  Get The Virus In here.

Got some good reaction to this piece I wrote about Youth Baseball.

Meanwhile at the Bagel Store – I got the Good Spot right in front and was in and out in a minute.  Nice!   Then I went to get coffee and gut stuck behind a gu y who was slow and even bought Donuts Chain Bananas.   You win some, you lose some.

NOT LINKING:  All sorts of nonsense about lineups and I am pretty sure Pete Alonso made Cooperstown.

Sterling or Scully: Gary Cohen off to hot start!

Welcome to another season of Sterling or Scully. How this works is home run calls arejudged either Sterling or Scully.

A Sterling HR call is one that has nothing to do with the actual play, but rather the announcer is mailing it in using some sort of catch phrase like “It is high, to the wall, it’s outta here” or something like that. Or maybe it’s just a terrible call.

A Scully HR call is the play by play as art.

There is no in-between grade. It’s either Sterling or Scully.

Looks like Gare took the off-season seriously and upped his game.  After a sub-par 2018, Gary comes out of the box with a good honest Home Run call instead of his awful 2018 habit of Trackwalling everything.  Good start Gare!

Verdict:  Scully

Also for those interested – my cord cutting experiment rocks. Started a season pass for Mets and it’s picking up even the MLBN games and the 1080p on Youtube TV looks great! Also it’s going to make it super easy for me to do screen grabs,

For the channel 11 games I will use an app called Locast, which has WB11. No DVR for that one.

OTOH baseball is so boring.  I am in the bottom of the 1st, blogging while I watch, and already bored out of my mind.   Very glad I did something else all day and put this game on at 10pm.
