What’s weird is the one group of owners you can’t kill right now is The Wilpons! Maybe Lyin’ Todd is upset that his ex-agent is bringing in other ex-clients to play Lyin’ Todd’s position. Or maybe you just can never have enough second basemen. Or closer. Who knows what Wags is up to.
SLACKISH REACTION: Not much happening in Queens, but I did attend the greatest Youth Sporting Event of the decade yesterday. It was a rec basketball game. All the players were cool. All the coaches were cool. The refs were cool. The parents were cool.
As I live-tweeted, at one point, yeah maybe the girl did travel. Fine. The ref didn’t call it. Fine. Did the parents go bananas? NO! Everyone was able to understand that a child was learning to play basketball and absent-mindedly took an extra step.
I’ve been at so many games that parents would have been screaming REFFF!!!!! before the ref even had a chance to think about moving a whistle to his lips.
The game was a one point back and forth with the lead switching sides. Late in the game a kid made two free throws. And the final score was….A TIE. And everyone walked off and had a nice time and learned a little about playing a sport. As youth sports should be. Enjoy your Sunday.
