Report: Mets to announce David Wright will become Assistant To The General Manager

I wonder if the Mets will send me the press release.

the Mets, who, a baseball source said, will announce Monday that Wright is joining the organization’s front office as a special assistant to general manager Brodie Van Wagenen.  Wright reportedly was with Van Wagenen at the winter meetings in Las Vegas last month.

Mets Police Morning Laziness: Wags is out of his depth

SLACKISH REACTION:  I was pretty unhappy with my own blogging so far in 2019…there’s been nothing to write about, and I had several busy work days and a caper or too.  Well friends, that’s been fixed.  Last night I did about 30 posts, over the course of three or so hours while watching 6 episodes of Battlestar Galactica ’04.   That should get me to February….and if the Mets ever announce anything I can use it for my Summer Vacation filler.

I need you to read what I wrote last night about the Mets’ complete utter lack of legitimate major league depth.  It is ALARMING and I am sounding the alarm.  Nice suits and a Robinson Cano press conference may have fooled Jeff….and yeah we have two closers for some reason….but seriously I need you to read what I wrote.  And if I need to entice you, skim the image below….

…yes I know it’s January but THIS IS NOT MAJOR LEAGUE READY.  Anyway, read the piece.

The Mets seem to have traded Plawecki, but the Mets don’t send me trade announcements.  They got back another .175 hitter to join Broxton and the rest of the Mendoza Line brigade.

Check out the cool 1987 Style Jacket.

Great job by the Robinson Cano foundation.

Took back my Sunday and ignored the NFL.  This will continue into the fall.

The Mets have no depth and Wags better hope nobody needs a day off or ever gets injured – here look…

So let’s take a look at this again….

Now today I don’t feel like debating trading for a 36 year old coming off PEDs (I know, I know, we needed a closer, which is why he re-signed Familia a few days later, because we needed TWO closers.) so let’s assume everyone above has career years!

I’ll even grant you that Peter Alonso is indeed the Triple Crown winner some of you have penciled in even though he’s never played an inning in the majors.

All is fine, all is great.

What happens when someone needs a day off Wags?  Are we really writing Rajai Davis or Keon Broxton in this lineup?

What happens is someone needs ten days on the DL?  Are you really ready to play those guys for two weeks?

Let’s take a look at this snazzy depth chart I found on Mets.com!

Nimmo and Conforto are each other’s protection.

Without Alonso the backup 1B seems to be Cano and whoever the heck J. Davis is. (another guy who hit .175 last year).

Let’s give Rosario a day off…we can play…..oh looks like he needs to play 162 x 9.

Now I get that it’s only January and that we do Spring Training and stuff and obviously they will have SOMEONE as a backup IFer (holy crap, this almost cries out for The Virus) – but look at this – look at how thin it is.  LOOK AT THE LACK OF OF DEPTH WAGS.  And this is in a world where we’re pretending a World Series contender has Juan Lagares as an every day starter.

Meanwhile, Bryce Harper waits to find a new home.

Let me know when you’re serious Wags.  I’m glad you hooked up your ex-client with a lifeline but you’re about to waste JDG’s walk year.

I am sounding the alarm.
