@dtwohig’s Mets Library #39: A Dream Season

MetsPolice Library A Dream SeasonThe 86 Mets team was quite prolific with at least 7 members penning books (Keith, Darryl, Doc, Ron, Gary, Lenny, and Davey) – some more than one.

Carter wrote 2 books –A Dream Season was his first, published in 1987 following the World Series victory.  I like this book far more than his later one (which as I said earlier seemed to be a calling card to be a manager).

@dtwohig’s Mets Library #28: Still A Kid At Heart

MetsPolice Library Still A Kid At Heart

Gary was a great player, and a great individual.  As a writer though, he’s on par with most other players who pen their own autobiographies.

The purpose of Still a Kid at Heart: My Life in Baseball and Beyond seemed to be more to promote Gary as a potential major league manager than a look into his great career.  I still treasure this book though as it is signed by Gary to me.
