Picture of Shea Stadium 1964

So much great stuff has been rolling in ([email protected]) and thank you thank you thank you.   Without this stuff Mets Police would just be a guy obsessing over Lee Mazzilli and complaining to Dave Howard.

I worked on the site for like 4 hours yesterday, there’s tons of great content coming up.   Lots of Seaver and Mazzilli, but I decided to start sucking up to Generation Piazza too.

Media Goon has some assignments this week which will bring you some really great stuff involving the 2011 team.

On the right of the main column (on the actual Mets Police site) you will find audio from the Mets’ first game in 1962.  4 hours of it.  Thanks to Michael for that!

Today we begin with a nice note from Eric at Stadium Page.

Hi,

Great series with the old Shea pics.  I’m too young to have ever seen Shea in its original color scheme (my first game was in 1984 and never had a camera until 1998) but I’ve collected some images for my website from that time from readers and some publications.

The (first)  two are from a 1964 Shea Dedication program.  I actually have the whole program (a few pages) in PDF form somewhere.  Let me know if you are interested in that:

These are from a reader, Joseph L.  He wasn’t sure when they were from, but by looking at the scoreboard its clear they’re from August 16, 1969.

It looks like he was sitting in either the press level or the area that was eventually turned in to the Diamond Club seats.

Feel free to use them in your series if you like.

Thanks!  Eric’s note references several pictures.  I’m going to roll them out one at a time because hey it’s a long winter, ya know?  I only have so many John Stearns stories.  The first is the 1964 pic mentioned.
