Can Mets Fans Root For The New York Yankees This Weekend?

Bitter Bill who gave us an awesome shoutout in today’s column (thank you!) says he can’t root for the Yankees this weekend.

Bill points out…

Should the Yanks sweep the Phils, Bomber fans would be unbearable, er, more unbearable. It’s bad enough the Yanks have won nine in a row, but now our Metsies are in the tank. The last thing we need is Bombers fans giving us the business because they beat the Phils.

While I get the point, I don’t care.  Unless the Mets run off 25 world championships before the Yankees win another the Mets will always be the little brother.   As I’ve said before, I have no problem rooting for the Yankees most days (I’d rather watch the Yankees in October than some random Phillies-Dodgers playoff game)…and this weekend rooting for the Yankees helps the Mets.

  1. If the Yanks sweep the Phils, we thank them, and move on. The way the Mets have looked in the last week, we need all the help we can get, even if it is from the Yankees.
