I’m All Over The Place, Just Like the New York Mets

I agree that the below is not my finest work.  What I love about it, is as I try to post it on Monday night, my family is all yelling and screaming and I’m getting distracted even trying to post something I already wrote.

Anyways, on Monday I write for Flushing University, this was this week’s distracted column.

I’m All Over The Place, Just Like The New York Mets

I feel like the Mets. One second I’m rocking, the next second I have no idea what’s going on.
All day long I’ve tried to write this column. I get on a flow, and then the baby starts crying. I get on another run and then my mom calls. Win three in a row and then an outfielder gets hurt. My life and the Mets season are the same, just can’t get going.
With that in mind, today’s column is as scattered as Jerry Manuel’s plans.
I could write This Is A Big Week article but you know that. Phillies, Yankees, blah blah. We’ll (I’m on the Mets now) will either be in first place or 8 games out come next Monday.
Maybe a Subway Series preview? Here’s the preview. New Yankee Stadium is a home run hitter’s park and the Mets don’t hit home runs. It’s going to be a long weekend.
How about the Jose Reyes Panic article? As I wrote over on The Mets Police, I’m not as worried about Jose than all the other injuries. I think this team can get by with Cora or anyone who can hit .255 and catch a ball. I’m not sure they can get by hitting one home run a week.
Omar Should Make A Trade! is always fun to write about. The problem is the Mets don’t even have any minor leaguers to play the infield, or outfield, or pitch…and half the core is hurt, so unless you are trading Carlos Beltran and his no-trade clause, I don’t know how you think Omar is going to bring anyone good back.
Like it or not, this is the team. Sure Omar might pick someone off the scrap-heap, and he’s been good at those (Tatis last year and Livan this year is the pickup of the year.) He might get some free-agent to be with a big contract…to play first base. That will mean that Dan Murphy Mania is over. Dan Murphy the former left fielder…which brings me to the
Shoulda Signed Manny Article. The Mets were cheap in the off-season, and bloggers like me would have had a field day when he got suspended, but I still wish they had signed him (instead went with Murphy in LF) and you can roll your eyes all you want but he’d be a nice addition to the lineup come July 5th. I’m sure the Dodgers won’t mind. Speaking of which…
The Mets should have hired Torre. Oh wait, I did that article last week on The Mets Police.
Yep, I’m all over the place, just like the Mets. Sweep the Giants and we (I’m a Met again) are winning it all. Get swept by the Dodgers and we’re free-falling. Beat up on the Nationals and we have a nice scrappy team. Get swept by the Pirates and it’s panic time.
I think I’m going to stick with This Is A Big Week! This time next week we’ll have found out that this team is gutsy or we’ll be eight back and your seats on Stubhub will be worth even less. Sometimes it gets late early, let’s hope this isn’t one of those years.
